When opening riffworks i keep getting a diagnostic error file causing it to shut down.another problem is the audio setup also shuts down as well.I'll have it set to an asio device and in the middle of recording it will revert to a direct sound.I have pulled all usb ports out so it's not competing with another. I'm looking at the riffwork box and reading how "easy" it is to record, but i have to tell you at this point I'm really disappointed and fustrated with this product.

Sentinel6, hang in there, it will all be worth it in the end when you get things sorted.

What sort of setup do you have? What audio device? Operating System? Many configurations have their own quirks and some are very easy to sort out once we know what we are dealing with. Like all software, this works on 99% of computers trouble-free; it is the 1% that cause problems and we can get them working after a bit of tweaking here and there. A little more info will help so either post here or let the support team know; they really are good at fixing problems.

Dave.

What audio interface are you using with RW? Give us some more info and maybe someone here can help.....I am sure if you have emailed Sonoma support they can assist.

Sounds like the audio engine is resetting somehow, could be a driver bug with your sound card.

I had sent a email about 7 days ago and still have had no reply,so i'll post here and maybe i can get some answers. the first problem is when opening up riffworks line 6 edition.i get a pop up saying "riffworks error-unhandeled exception, would you like to save a diagnostic file".i then have to close the program and reopened it. the 2nd problem is sometimes when trying to open riffworks.I'll get a "error"-riffworks is already running.please quit befeore launching again.i'll then have to restart my computer to get around this. 3rd problem is the audio setup.I'll pull any usb ports that are on the computer so that there is no interferance from any other programs.most times this works, but other times it'll say riffworks is using your system default audio device. the fourth problem is when going to save any riffs that i did record with.i'll get a pop up saying demo mode- to save or mix riffworksmust be activated.when buying riffworks there was no serial # in the package.
the system i'm running is windows vista home premium 32 bit ,and im using the guitar port and gear box that came with the rifftracker.
i'm hoping this is the info that you need to help me,if there's anything more you need to know just let me know.thanks

Did you activate it through Line 6 monkey and register the serial on their website?
If there was no serial number in the package. Who was the vendor and where did you buy it? Was it presumed new or used? You'll need to have a serial in order to cure the demo-save issue at least. Follow up on your email to support,..it sometimes gets backlogged in the cue.

I bought it at alto music center new.it has all the software .2cds 1 riffworks,1 gearbox.it has several registration cards, but i can't find any serial #.i bought this almost a month ago,and it may be too late to return.is there any way of obtaining a serial #.I have proof of purchasing guitarport/rifftracker for $189.99 and would hate to have to shell out any more money to get this activated.

Hello, I had that one off issue a couple of month ago - I thing a video editing software created a conflict somewhere. Uninstalled and reinstalled both RW and Line6 and fixed it.

Serial should be on a card, I think it was red? or the cd sleeve/jacket.
The cd version of RW shipped is likely at least a 2.0 gen version of Riffworks.

If you need to update your version - you can download from Line 6's site.

I am not sure if you have a std version or the Line 6 version, if you open RW, click on the RW logo in the upper right and it'll bring you to a screen that shows what build it is. It shoold say 'standard' by the RW logo if it is a non Line 6 vers
...but again, I will reiterate, you should follow up on your case support and re-contact Sonoma for a reply.

If the thing came with no serial in the box.... your problem is with the vendor who sold it. You may be able to resolve the issue via email and having proof of purchase.

I would say...if you used a credit card or a Visa debit to pay in person or through an online transaction.... start a chargeback, charge dispute to CYA (cover your backside)
If there IS no serial.. you clearly need to to take action to at least get that resolved first before worrying about your other issues....those can be resolved through trial and error and a little more time with the software.

Sorry of your troubles, that's the best advice I can offer at this time.

my sn is on the underside of the gp.

you can reinstall but make sure the monkey is all up to date with the latest versions.

the usb firmware was the most troublesome for me.

oh, you can activate and reinstall from monkey.

TIP! use the same user name and password for all related rw sites.
(this is still recomended, right?)

I bought my tone port used and didn't come with any activation #. I contacted Line 6 and they helped my out in no time! Since your Riffworks came with a Line 6 product, you will have to contact them to get your activation # if you can't find it anywhere.
All I had to do was send them a picture of the serial # on the bottom of my toneport and a receipt proving I bought and I was up and running in no time!
Don't give up!!
Sonoma Wire Works and Line 6 are the best things to happen to recording in a LONG time! It will def. be worth it!
