Is there a place to go on here to let people know that you are a vocalist?

Rich, you're always tops with me for what it's worth. Everything you post (with or without vocals) always has soul and integrity.

I can sing certain things pretty well, but I haven't wanted to post any vocals because of my own insecurity and not knowing what comments will come of it. Guitar and songwriting I can handle, but when it comes to vocals, I'm still in my shell.

Maybe one of these days...

Rich, your one of my FAV Junkie singers, hold your head up high and keep cranking 'em out. With the huge of amounts of new users, there are invariably going to be a few wankers in the bunch. Usually they hide under the "guest" moniker. This awesome community will take care of 'em. :)

In my humble opinion, the opinions of the opinionated are.. Oh damn, I'd best leave the bollocks speak to the professionals! Have at it Bill....

Wow! Thanks for all the love guys :) I didn't expect all of this great feedback but you KNOW how much I appreciate it... no bollocks talking this time :D It goes both ways. I'm just trying to keep up with the amazing talent around here!!

I have the same mutual respect for you guys and yes Mickey, you're right in saying that we are welcoming more and more to our lil' family so some dysfunction is sure to work it's way into the fold...sigh

It's still MORE than worth it to keep making music with all of you fine folks and I'm honored and grateful for the opportunity....REALLY!! :) I'll keep working on it....

Anyway, forgive me the long rant of this post...I'll kindly go back to talking bollocks now that I see my mentor is watching ;)

I'm not sure, but that's an awesome idea!
There should some sort of list or something where people can list their talents for people to call on for some help!

I would sure love to find a Metal screamer/growler whatever so I don't have to make anymore half ass attempts!lol (hurts like hell....usually can't talk for a day or two after I try!)

Perhaps a new forum thread should be started!

Rich, the way I look at it is everything is subjective; tones, phrasings, vocals, drum choices, genre...etc.
We live in America, land of the free, to dissent and have freedom of opinion is a great luxary- not to be limited or regulated and controlled lest by the people who run this place. We're not always going to please everyone all the time, not even the majority of the time as far as I see it... and sure - I completely understand how this can have an effect on you..but I see you as one of the more accomplished, creative, multi talented and willing to risk types about on RW... so, I wouldn't put much stock in it, especially if its a guest comment who probably doesn't have alot under the belt - regardless of gender.

Great thread! I'm torn. Upon discovering this software / contest / "society" existed, I was psyched. I'm largely a closet-singer. Before now, my wife, kids, & few others were tortured with my singing (let me know if you need their therapist, lol). This has been an enabler, to learn what others think, with less risk than a "live" setting. It could be painful to hear someone object to my voice, but in my case I prefer learning here if I need work (we can all improve). But, we're all different, so seems best to err on the safe side with unsought criticism. Yet, I echo Charvelguy's sentiments: freedom to speak & knowing the risk we take by putting something out there as well as enjoying your music, blue4u.

In sorting it out, it's art after all. Subjective, & there's no satisfying everyone. We should create something that pleases us; if it impacts another, that's icing on the cake! Too, consider the source. If they're an unknown entity for which there's no knowing their motivation, weigh how much that opinion ought to matter. What are their "credentials" anyway?

Peace!

Indeed, I agree. It all depends on how much weight you are going to put on the commenter, especially a complete stranger. You are allowing them more power than they deserve if you take it so personally. No offense, but consider the fact they could have the sophistication for taste akin to that of a common housefly - unable to discern or care as much as you will in choosing between a hundred dollar bar of exotic imported chocolate and a piece of dried dog poo. To a little annoying house pest, its all pretty much one and the same regard less of quality.

Hey, at least you didn't have to duck to dodge a couple well tossed shoes as well.
I gotta hand it to Bush, he really moved well and handled it even better.

Thanks Tom! You've always been a great support and I'm humbled by how well you play and write on guitar. You're certainly one of my favs 'round here so, it means a little extra coming from you :)

And thanks Mike for your post. This thread has turned from a rant into an interesting discussion! Thanks for indulging my ridiculousness everyone

You're a fine, intelligent group o' folks :D
