Hi folks

I took the plunge and bought the full (standard) version of RW tonight but it won't launch at all, instant crash. The T4 version was (and still can) launch fine on my machine.

I've done the following:

found and removed all com.sonoma* files from ~/Library/Preferences/
removed both T4 and RW standard
reinstalled RW standard a couple of times
removed previous Amplitube plugins (that came with T4)
removed install receipts (from /Library/Receipts/ )

Any other suggestions on how I can get this thing going? I filed a ticket with support but I'm overanxious and want to play with it tonight!

Go down your local computer store and buy a machine with Windows on it!

Sorry, I'm being an idiot; I know how frustrating it is when you get something new and want to get it working RIGHT NOW. Does it just disappear with no dialog window or does it give you a message of some kind? Have you tried starting it without the sound device plugged in? The Sonoma crew are usually excellent in resolving these things so, frustrating as it is, hang in there until they start the process.

Hopefully all the Mac users here will also jump in and suggest ways to get you rocking, that is, if he isn't out buying an iPhone.

Good luck and keep us posted.

Dave.

heh no thanks on the windows :P

It's a dialog that says:

The applications RiffWorks quit unexpectedly.

(the standard dialog when an app crashes in OSX). It happens immediately upon launch. Nothing shows up in the log file at all, it shows the launch time and that's it.

When manually launching the executable (located within the OSX .app package) it says:

terminate called after throwing an instance of 'wireworks::DException'
Abort trap

As for my audio interface, it's a PCI express card based setup (MOTU PCIe-424) so I can't really unplug it.

The baffling part is that RiffWorks T4 (the free version) still runs just fine. I just can't launch the one I bought and downloaded. They are both the same version build number (2.2.1.2930).

Hi Gerk,

Please contact support if you haven't already and we'll try to get to the bottom of it right away. Please include the version of the OS you're running. We just posted an update for 2.5. Support will send you that link too.

thanks!

Hi dug

Thanks for the reply. I did contact support, been a couple of days now but no response yet, guess you guys have been nose the grindstone getting 2.5 out the door.

I read the 2.5 release information, hopefully that will fix my woes, but unfortunately I can't get RW standard launched for long enough to download the update LOL. Hopefully support replies soon with a link for a direct download of 2.5. I looked in my store account to see if it was in there but it seems to still be the older version.

Hopefully support contacts me soon :( It works fine on my old powerbook laptop, but it really hates my 8 core Mac Pro. RW T4 works fine on the same 8 core.

Nothing I've tried yet gets things going (and I've tried a lot to date LOL). I think there's something funky going on. What hardware do you have? Maybe there's something in common ...

I'm using a Line 6 UX2 and a MacMini - Everything was working well till I updated. I just finished a disc and permission repair and still same thing going on! I'm sure they will figure it out!

Same issues with T4 on G5 IMac. Anything new here? Fresh install results in wireworks::DException when I launch.

Same problem here.

Downloaded the free Riffworks T4 to check it out.

Doesn't open, crashes immediately.

I have the most recent update to OSX 10.5.6

And Powerbook G4

Maybe this has something to do with it? (Intel vs PPC?)

toddf23, DoubleUK: Have you tried as was suggested (either here or in another thread) ... repairing the hard drive permissions? It's not the fix for my problem but it might help out you if neither T4 or Standard can launch ... my problem is specifically with Standard, T4 runs fine.

Hello Gerk,

Yeah, I just re-installed 10.5.6 (combo) and did a permissions repair.

But alas... no luck. So I find it strange that your T4 runs fine.

Too bad because I was curious about this app...

:-(
