Perfect timing after slaving away for hours I mixed a song but did not get a chance to update the save file...then the S/W crashed. After restarting Riffworks did recover the last song file but I could not save as the Guitar Port I am using could not be recognised. Is there any way to recover the last file?.........

Thanks
David

I've been in this exact situation, but it was over a year ago. First I would say try unplugging the guitar port and re-plug it in so it'll save you may be able to save song.
(hope you still have it up?)

Thanks -
I tried the unplugging/plug and to no avail. I had to restart the software. I did find a diectory in the C /Temp folder titled RCS and it is filled with SNG,RIF and PSI files in 6 different Riff folders and they have the right time on them for the crash I wonder if I can use any of these? but I do not know how

Perhaps you can resalvage. No guarantees.

First copy those files to another location.

You may lose the song information but may be able to salvage the riffs.

zip the entire contents of the rcs folder (the folder containing .sng file as your root) and save as a RWS file. open with RW and see if that works.

if not,

Zip the contents of each riff folder and name them as the parent riff folder name.zip

ex.

folder riff_a > zip the contents of this folder and save the zipped file as Riff_a.rwr

then you can import those riffs into rw and they just might work.

7 Zip works quite good for this stuff and its free.

- sry,
if it sounds lame above, as typing all this in a hurry.

Maybe other members can chime in on and explain it better.
