I have bought RW Standard, Used L6 edition for a while for sketches and such. I bought Standard ($100.00 with promo code) worth it juust for the Amplitube light software actually. I primarily use my Line6 TonePort UX2 with it though.
My real question is can someone do a moron approved step by step on how to slave ... sat Reaper to it and exactly what it does?
How do you apply it and how do you like doing it?

You can slave Reaper to Riffworks but NOT the other way around. Riffworks won't run as a slave, only as a "master". I wish it worked both ways but this isn't supported yet (maybe someday?)

Anyway, Rewire devices automatically activate when they are both started depending on which one is launched first. So, start Riffworks first and then launch Reaper. Reaper should then kick into ReWire mode and sync tempo with Riffworks.

In Riffworks you can go to the Backups section and check the ReWire option. You should see Reaper listed.

Here's a more detailed description and tutorial: http://www.sonomawireworks.com/guide/index.php/ReWire

If you are using Reaper there is an alternative to ReWire called ReaRoute. This is way to slave Reaper and Riffworks both ways, a little bit more advanced but I have used it to get around some tricky stuff like mixing down separate layers/drums in RW using Reaper and them send it back to RW.

When you install Reaper there is an option to also install something called ReaRoute ASIO drivers. This is a way to route sound between Reaper and any other DAW's (including RW) that supports ASIO. I've found that it is not 100% stable but when it works it is a pretty nice solution.

Description: http://www.cockos.com/wiki/index.php/ReaRoute

So if you have installed ReaRoute you can set the output channels in RW to use ASIO ReaRoute channels 1+2 and then record a new track in Reaper where the input is set to the same channels. You can do the other way around, send from a track in Reaper and record it into a new layer in RW. This might be usefull in some cases.

One obvious use of it is that Reaper has (contrary to RW) full VST support, so if you have some cool VST instruments that you wish to record with RW you can use it together with Reaper and route the output through ReaRoute into RW.

Please download this to use for routing reaper thru to riffworks.

http://stash.reaper.fm/1358/ReaRoute.RPP

Read all of this before you start. Print it out.

1. Make sure you install Reaper with ReaRoute checked.

2. Open Riffworks and set the driver in audio setup to ReaRoute ASIO.

3. Set the RW input to ReaRoute 1/2(Out should be at 1/2 by default).

4. Go to ReaRouted Instrument track. There should already be ReaInsert plug there.
Set both the sends and returns to 1 and 2. Place your VSTi on the MIDI track.
On the track it is enabled to record output turn that off that is only for recording output to a reaper track.

5. Make sure that when you start a session to do this you open reaper first so it is not used as a rewire client. Then open RW.

6. You can use this with any of the rewire clients that open in Reaper. Remember you are only recording audio with this setup!!!! No MIDI

Havent got that to work yet but have learned how to use the rex player (LOVE IT!!) and the rewire for Fruity loops (cool but a little over my head... I'm a guitarist... well... sort of.... and I'm therefore not too bright) ANd thet is cool too.
Thank you for your advice folks!!. Great forum full of helpful people.
