I did this with my trusty TonePortUX2. I used it as a Preamp for an SM-57 mic. I used a Gibson SG through a DRRI for the crunchy rathm and a Fender LTD edition 50th anniv American Strat For the lead through the DRRI too. The Bass was with the L6 modeling with some tweaking in the RiffWorks Effects rack.
The acoustic was a Garrison CE-40 direct into the TonePort.
The RiffWroks software is amazing because I was able to Layer all parts onto 1 riff and just mute and un mute certain parts as the "song" progressed. I then played the "lead" as a song layer from one end to the other in a single take.
The name of the "song" is Whipsawn.
If your'e interested all the other outlines here were using the RiffWorks software too.
"Lions Pride" was TonePort recorded completely including L6 amp modelling ( no mic or amp whatsoever)!

Actually, I was wrong about "lions Pride". I recorded that in RW but I Exported the individual parts into Reaper as I recall. In Reaper I added some Acid loops (egg shaker I think).
I also used the VST Pluggin for mastering so It wasn't quite
totaly dedicated to RW.... Sorry for the mis imformation
