Hi i have just signed up to RW and I cannot record and my amp is plugged in to my laptop. It works with windows silly little "sound recorder" fine but not RW.

When i click onto audio setup its says it is using my current default audio evice and it needs an ASIO device :S not sure what that stands for.

ASIO devices allow you to record with 0 latency (you hear what you play as you play it). An ASIO device is required for Riffworks.
There are quite a number of these devices out there. I personally use a Line 6 Tone Port UX1 and it works awesome. It cost about $115 used. Line 6 has other ASIO devices as well depending on your needs (how many instrument/mic inputs you need etc).
The Line 6 devices also come with awesome amp modeling software that allow you to get pretty much any tone you want.
Your guitar plugs directly into the ASIO device so no amp is required. I don't know if there is any way to use your amp as well.
Hope this helps

Two words. ASIO4ALL. Or is that 3? Really try this it should work but not ideal, ASIO4ALL write a layer of ASIO driver to your WDM driver. Download, install, and try it out.

The only output on the valveking that can safely connect to a line input is the effects send jack. If you connect the speaker out you will start a fire. Maybe you know this already, but maybe somebody doesn't. Tube amps are not usually recorded direct like this, since alot of the tone is from the power tubes and speaker anyway. Microphone is the way to go.

Cool. Better to be safe than sorry. Tube amps and speaker loads are serious business, plenty of people have been badly injured or even killed by the voltages of them. Please check your amps manual for safe operation.
