is there anyway to take a riffworks recording and import it into cakewalk sonar for a final mix?

Sorry if this is dumb question.... the band is using sonar as a final product but this is so much easier to just lay a track down

You can mix to .wav and import that to Sonar.

You'll probably want to solo a layer at a time through the song(i.e. guitar 1, guitar 2, bass, etc), then mix to wav each one individually. That will give you the tracks that can be imported into Sonar and mixed there.

You can now also export each layer of each riff individually (hit "Export" in the upper left, then pick "Export All Riffs"). Depending on how complex the song is this may be more or less painful to import to Sonar!

When you export from Riffworks it will place each riff in a separate folder with each layer. I have done this very thing on http://www.riffworld.com/Members/Rotund/no-reason-1/ into Sonar 8. It works great select import in Sonar then select the RW folder (riff) then select each layer in the folder and import. Each layer will import into Sonar and will create each audio track as it does. It may require some reorg of each clip but ultimately works great. You can import as mono and it will automatically split the channels or leave each as stereo. Hope that helps out.

Just hit export. You will get the option of saving the current riff or the whole song. Each layer including the drum track becomes one WAV file each which you can drag into your other DAW-software (Sonar in your case, I use Reaper). Consider using meaningful and consistent naming of your layers or you will get lost.

Have fun!
