This may be dumb, but lets say I am not happy with the recording results and want to add volume or pan some guitar.
How would I record the new version with the tweaks? Do I take each riff, hit the red record button, tweak during play back, and then do the same for each segment??

I guess this is what I was picturing as the "MIXING" function.
That button only seems to save it as a mp3 or ogg file and not MIX anything.

Help

No, you alter what you want just as you would in a normal recording situation the when you are happy with how it sounds you cast it or mix it to wav...Maybe I've not understood?

With Riffworks, workflow is a little different than what you might be used to. But once you get used to it, getting song ideas recorded is way faster than anything else I've tried.

I try to kind of mix as I go along. I'm constantly tweaking volume, panning, and effects (don't forget Riffworks has some great modulation effects too!). The MIX button basically mixes all your Layers down to one track, which you can save as a WAV or OGG file. If I want to do any polishing from there, I'll open the WAV or OGG in another DAW. Usually though Riffworks by itself does the job.

The edits in Riffworks are non-destructive, so you can tweak till your heart's content without having to worry about recording anything over again (unless you fudged the riff).

So, if i record a riff... then adjust some knobs ... and then hit record again and those new knob settings will be saved???

You don't have to hit record again. Just make the adjustments to gain and pan, add your effects and your done!

The tweaks are done in "real time" so to speak. Once you apply something it's there until you change it again. Then save the changes to the song and they are there when you open it again and you can tweak more if you like.

So click on the riff I want... turn knobs... and the changes stay and then are made permanant when mixed down?
Another thing, the effects... I dont really hear any effects at all.
Take the Qutack thing---I cant get a autowah sound of it for the life of me; or any sound at all for that matter

You will need to click on the effects tab to activate [turn it on] the effect first....then tweak to your hearts content....pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Enjoy!

Effects settings (like delay, modulation, etc) can be saved. Volume and pan settings are not. But while the knob positions aren't *saved* per se, they'll stay where you put them. So if you record a riff, pan and change volume, then close Riffworks and come back a week later, the knobs will still be where you put them for that riff.

The you can then access your fav presets again and apply them as you like...I use this a lot and it is a huge time saver.
