It's funny that I found this post today because I just talked myself out of getting modeling amp since it just didn't make sense considering that I own an X3 Live. I tried to come up with a situation where it would work in my favor, but I couldn't realistically come up with anything. A while back I was looking at the Line 6 Spider Jam, but with Riffworks already installed I realized I was just being ridiculously redundant. I do love new toys, though. I guess I'll have to set my sights elsewhere.

You an me both.....lol Glad to hear I am not the only one with this affliction. Although you do make a valid point on picking up a cheap combo tho.....I will hit some pawn shops and see what I can find.

The other benefit is, now that I've stopped spending so much time online researching and shopping, I've gotten tons of time back that I've been using to bring my playing to the next level. 20min of research = mastery of a particularly difficult passage or more creative time.

What I was saying is that it is overkill since I already have the X3. I don't need any more effects, that I'm sure of. :)

Line 6 needs to take the X3, and make it a combo...then all would be solved.....lol

It's called the Vetta and it came before the XT. Seriously though, heard a guy playing through one a few weeks ago and he had the best tone of three bands. My drummer friend said it was too processed though, but I don't think he can hear at all.

BAHAHAHA nice.............damn her! LOL

I thought the Vetta was lacking in some models and stuff (bass amps, vocal preamps and effects). The Vetta is crazy money, compared to the X3 live.....wow.

Funny thing is I wanted the X3 for dual tones, and don't really use it much at all.......lol

I've often wondered about how the dual tones of an X3 would sound through an amp. I'm sure it would sound good, I'm just wondering if that same stereo separation between the two effects chains would be apparent with, say, a 2x12 combo. I don't really see how it could be.

Yeah the Vetta doesnt do bass or vocal, but it does more complicated routing of effects than the X3, can use more effects at once, and is a stereo poweramp with blend control. It wouldn't be any better for recording though.

I agree GS, and it is a lot more money too. I do love my X3, I just need to sort out my amp options. I did some more looking around, and one my past amps I sold would have been a good fit. The Behringer GMX 212 has a stereo in that bypasses the eq allowing you to slave the amp. I knew I should have kept that. Fortunately it is cheap and found in a lot of pawn shops......lol

From what I have read over on the L6 boards.......you really want a stereo amp or setup to take advantage of the X3 outside of USB recording or headphones.

Why not just keep on with the X3 for recording, and go for an amp that you really love? Or do what I do, just get more guitars!

I really wanted something that would give me the same tones for practise, recording and live.....the all in one solution. Which I think the X3 is, given the right addons. Course I change my mind like a fart in a windstorm, so next week I may have something completely different going on......lol
