Hey guys, I need some help. I am trying to record vocals for a cover of Master Of Puppets (by Metallica) that I am doing. I am having trouble getting a good loud tone with clarity.

I am using a cheap Samson M5 mic plugged directly into the GuitarPort hardware. As I said above, I want a tone that will be clear but loud at the same time. I want some reverb on the vocals too, but I can figure that out on my own.

Does anyone have some good presets or settings? If so, please tell me so I can set it up on GuitarPort and record. Thanks in advance!

I use the Vocal Drive Pre-set and EQ to taste.

I had to buy an impedence transformer to take the level from mic to line level on the input, then to get the volume up to a decent level I use the gearbox "gate" (or maybe it was the compressor) to increase the level. For the guitarport, there are several vocal presets that use the different classic mic preamps with various effects. You should find one close to what you want, and with a little tweaking you can dial it in. On all the presets I had to increase the gain a lot with the either the gate or maybe it was with the compressor, I can't remember now!
