First off, I'll say I'm new to the whole recording process and I get lost and confused pretty easy when I'm out figuring this stuff on my own.

Okay, so I just got Riffworks Standard today and installed it on my MacBook. I have the Line 6 PODxt and it's listed and rated "Excellent" under Mac OS Recommended Core Audio Devices for Riffworks Standard.

http://www.sonomawireworks.com/guide/index.php/Recommended_Hardware

Anyway, I have my guitar plugged into the PODxt, and the PODxt into my amp and into the MacBook. Everything's turned on, volume up and I'm pretty sure I have everything set up properly.

When I click "Audio Setup" on the Riffworks interface I get:

"You don't have a supported audio device connected. Built-in Audio with no input (ala Mac Mini) doesn't count."

When I try recording, there doesn't seem to be any sound. And I have no idea what to do, so any help would be much appreciated!

Have you got the Pod XT plugged into your computer with a USB lead ??
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!

Yeah the Pod is plugged in with the USB.

Okay, I managed to fix my problem thanks to this:

Though I managed to stumble upon yet another problem.

I've got headphones plugged into the PODxt and I'm able to hear things like that. But when I try to record, the guitars are super loud and the drums are really quiet. I record the guitar anyway and when I play it back, it's a lot more quiet that you can barely hear it.

When I had the demo of Riffworks for Line 6, the drums and guitar were equally heard and I didn't have much trouble.

what you might be hearing via headphones is the direct monitoring level and not the actual recording level. you might need to turn the level knob on the pod unit a bit lower also you might need to first turn pod's monitoring off.

Open the podxt driver in via riffworks or directly via control panel and under monitoring set the level to minimum by dragging the slider. in RW click the hardware button to turn hardware monitoring off (it should not be red) and you will hear the actual level RW is getting. Once you get the idea you can then choose whatever monitoring method you prefer, if you use gearbox then you can just turn the monitor level down there.
