Hi,

When I have both Riffworks and Reason open at the same time with a track playing in Reason, the sound of my guitar within Riffworks begins popping.

Is this because the computer is not able to handle playing audio from both programs at once? Or is there a way I can set it up not to do this.

Thanks

I am not the expert but this (for me) indicates an overload on the computer and audio interface bus. Thus an adjustment of the buffer size is required in the audio device or DAW depending on which is available to you (or both.) Since Reason is in Rewire mode at this point RW will be the responsible interface for the DAW so you should be able configure RW and the Audio Interface in RW by clicking on the audio button at bottom right of the RW interface and go from there. There is a help button also on the interface. A reboot of your computer will also "reset" the bus and could help but not likely.

Problem now is, with a larger buffer size latency may be introduced into your recordings. So you will need to watch your settings in both modes, record and listen. So check out the web for infomation on the what's and how's to fix it. Here is one site that I use for issues in home recording that has been helpful for most all topics including this one.
