Hi, im in need of some advice.

Does the riffworks work with all the pod xt range?
ie im a bassist and a casual guitarist, id like to purchase a bass pod xt live or rack, and use this software with it. will there be any problem, as iv never seen anyone actually saying its ok, or more importantly NOT ok.

Any help on this would be appreciated.

Hello and welcome!
I'm using a guitar Pod XT Live with the bass expansion pack. I've been recording my bass in Riffworks with good results. Your setup should work just fine.

The guitar Pod XTL and the bass Pod XTL are essentially the same hardware, with minor diferences.
Regardless, the XTL simply acts as an interface from your instrument to the computer via USB, much as any other interface would do. Once you configure Riffworks to receive the signal from your interface, it records the digital audio.
Edited to add: Seems I don't know what I'm talking about. :/
I sit corrected!

I would hang fire until one of the bass players here answers your question, my undrstanding is that the Pod XTL is a much better device than the Bass Pod. I'm pretty sure that ThrobbyRobby, one of our cool bass players, bought a bass pod, wasnt happy with it and exchanged it for an XTL. Another option is the Toneport / Studioport UX2 or even the Pod X3 (You get all the packs included with that I think) I have Toneport UX2 and Pod XTL and use the Toneport most of the time, it has facilities for 2 mics with phantom power plus 2 instruments, I use it for guitar, bass, keys, vox and miscellaneous animal calls and farting noises etc ;)

Do a search for ThrobbyRobby or Joshua001 or RLP or samiller (there's numerous others but these are the first usernames that came into my head) on here, you might even be able to fire off a couple of emails and ask them direct. Josh bought a Toneport I think.

Good luck and welcome mate

The cheapest option with really good bass tones: Line6 Studio GX. $99.00

If you want to go big: Line6 POD X3Live. $499.00

Good luck and have fun!!

I sold my Bass POD and bought the XTLive because the Bass pod will not work with Gearbox or Riffworks. I was told by Line6 to purchase the XT live and load the bass pack into it. I really felt ripped off. If you get the X3 you'll be set! It comes fully loaded with all the bass rigs and effects.

I believe the bass pods do not record over the USB, correct?
