You should try using a heavy amp (such as line 6 insane, deity's son, etc.) and combine it with the screamer stompbox model. That way you can get a heavy sound. Make sure to play with the eq so it doesn't sound too muddy or trebbley

If you have the Pod Farm Metal package use the Line 6 Amp Big Bottom with tube screamer experiment with EQ to your preference. I prefer bass 65% middle 40% high 80% presence 80% a chunk machine good highs for soloing also.

Just use the pull down arrow and choose a preset. It's already been setup for you can you can go through them and find the one you like. Try the "80's Metal" preset and see if you like that.

Maybe Bob can comment on which model he used for that video, but what guitar do you have? This can make a big difference.

From the stock models I like the Spinal Puppet, very easy to get a great sound from it. There are so many that sound great though. I use the V30 cab everytime. Except for solos I like T75 or Green 25.

All depends what you mean by decent heavy distortion. Rich and creamy, scooped, in yer face Marshall....? All different sounds. I'd start with the presets and play around. I tend to use the Solo 100 head or the Marshall J-800, but it's all down to taste...

Probably the heaviest preset I've found is "Much Heavy" in gearbox under "Tones > Gold Bundle > Metal Shop > Much Heavy"

well im using a gibson explorer so i dont think thats the problem. It seems like i have made every adjustment to the shaper pedals and I cannot get a decent sound, and I dont have amplitube metal by the way I just have amplitude 2 live it came with riffworks standard i dont think its a full version

but i do have pod farm that came with my Line 6 UX2

Sounds like your trying to open Pod Farm from the vst plug in menu, and you probably haven't purchased the Pod Farm plug-in, so all you'll hear there is the unprocessed signal.

Are you running PodFarm as a stand alone alongside Riffworks? That's how you get the tones into RW's.

Try opening RW Standard 1st .....then Pod Farm (stand alone) .....your Line 6 devices ASIO should be in the window when you click audio setup .....bottom right.

You should now hear the Pod Farm tones and be able to riff away. :)

+1 on the L6 Purge model. I used it for my main stage patches on the XTL for a long time there. I think it sounds Plexi-esque, but that's just me :)

What would be cool is a thread where everyone posts there fav presets or tells how to get custom ones.

Perhaps we could have a nice constructive game thread called - Nail that tone.

Youtube has a lotta videos of your favorite artists with great tones/songs that people can refer to and the try to create em (should be no copyright issues either).

Of Course what you dial gonna sound a bit different for others with what guitar and pups and playing style you have.
