I downloaded it Thursday night. It is now Sunday night. I've had about 12 hours sleep total in the last three days. I have tried everthing that I can think of.

The most annoying thing is that it runs on my 1 GHz Pentium III Windows ME machine, but since GearBox 2 will not install on anything less than Windows 2000, the monkey doesn't update and let me activate RW2 on that computer. And even if I could, that computer only takes 512MB. But RW2 DOES run on that one.

On my slightly faster XP (Athlon) computer I get an error message after 1-3 seconds and I get a new version of this file:

I hate to say it but the Line 6 version should really be supported by Line 6 don't ya think? Have you tried contacting them? I know there are not alot of help.......and I am sure Sonoma and everyone here will do what they can to help.......but I just figured I would point out the obvious.......

And it did install itself in a folder named Sonoma Wire Works, not Line 6.

And get back to work, you slacker.

They can be pretty slow that is for sure........have you checked out their support boards? http://line6.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi

Never mind, I was over there and see you have been looking there as well........hopefully Sonaoma can get you fixed up!

Gee wee, thankfully I just got Standard version and no more hassle with it...

Once Guitarport dies (hope never), I could migrate to whatever ASIO card I'm pleased with...

ufa!

If you don't have any ReWire devices on your machine, it will throw that exception and catch it. That should be fine...

Does it give you the option of saving a dump file? What exactly does the error say when it comes up?

Mine still doesn't work. Post-Feb free upgrade guy here. All I get when I go into RW2 is an hourglass that won't go away until I end-task. All my specs are up to snuff. I've tried uninstalling all line6 and sonoma apps on my PC, cleaned up registry, re-tried. No go. Hourglass. I wonder if Norton Internet Security is messing with this? Can't think of any other cause.

help...

I've got the same problem.... Upgraded to V2 on Sat this week... App starts to load -- I get the hour glass and that's it.

Incidently -- my riffworks log showed I could connect to: rifflink.sonomawireworks.com:9940

That's not the issue now (Sonoma -- you do have backup web servers, I hope??)

Now it looks like my app is actrivated -- then de-activiated?? See Log below: (please help)

I have repeatedly uninstalled and reinstalled RW2. I disabled my firewall and antivirus before installing. I did attach two random .dmp files to Case 2067. I have many more if you need them.

The first box that pops up says:
An Unknown Error has occured. We will try to recover your data when you relaunch the application. Just make sure to answer yes when asked if you'd like to recover.
Code -1 at .DLooper.cpp:line 452

Then after clicking OK:
RiffWorks Error
Unhandled exception, would you like to save a diagnostic file?

Then:
Save your dump
Save in RiffWorks Line 6 Edition

Then:
Dump file saved successfully. To report the error to Technical Support, attach the saved dump file to an email with description of the problem. Be as detailed as possible and include system hardware and version information.

Then sometimes (but not always) a Microsoft error report dialogue pops up.

Thanks. That's good news, as those of us having problems are anxious to try out the new version.

If anyone is having trouble launching RiffWorks Line6 edition they should launch Line6 Monkey and verify that all of their Line 6 software is up to date. Especially any guitar port / tone port / gear box software.

Let me know if this solves anyones problems. I will keep digging on my end.

Everything in Monkey is (and was) up to date (at least in my case). Also, the Riffworks v.2 items on the two Monkey tabs both show "installed" and "authorized" or whatever. Everything shows that the latest version is installed. Riffworks v1.10 still works and is still installed.

The hourglass problem persists! :)

Thanks.

Are there any other RiffWorks child windows/popups that are hidden by RiffWorks itself? You can click RiffWorks in the task bar across the bottom or move the window around to see.

thanks
