There is none better for my tastes: http://youtube.com/watch?v=3W6hBI1SAL4

You realize just how good he is when you listen to others try to play his riffs. I haven't heard ANYONE yet that can cop his feel. His playing is very elusive! It looks so simple and effortless.

...and me, I cannot help repeating myself like an old hag:

http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=2v240bYbbrM

...makes my eyes water, literally. What I just don't get is how he works that old Strat vibrato. My own Strat goes out of tune when I only LOOK at the thing!

And on another note, man, just imagine having been on stage with him for that concert. The guys playing the strumming guitar and the bass, just accompanying him, see how they groove, see how they're floating being part of that massive sound as they listen to David delivering this sweet, scorching melody!

I could rant on and on about this. How that song, as great a tune as it is for the first 4 minutes, lyrics and all, seems to be made just for the second 4 to shine. Only when the guitar starts to sing, that's when the orchestration comes into play, that's when the background singers make it an oratorium, when every musician on stage lays in with all his might, just to present David's playing on a silver platter, on a silken cushion!

*sigh*

Oh man I couldn't agree more. I was lucky enough to see them on this tour, what a memorable experience. It really is the standard by which all other concerts are judged in my mind.

These vids made me want to either play more or quit. You guys have dredged up the most insane playing I've ever seen.

Roots of shred, Not much footage of this guy, he invented the speed lead back in the 30's - Django Baby! He does a couple good licks about 1/3 the way thru.

And What about Johnny???

This here for me is a case study in power guitar playing:

http://de.youtube.com/watch?v=jSNuIzw9VfU

The rhythm guitar is extreme fun to play, EXTREME fun - that's what I play when I'm in the guitar store checking out new stuff. And the solo has it all - speed, phrasing, melody and sheer in-your-face punch. I haven't mastered that repetitive lick at the end though, despite the fact that you find several guys on youtube demonstrating it.

But all in all, this is the package!

Tommy Emmanuel and co doing While My Guitar gently weeps. Just a really cool energy, him and a guy obviously guitarsming, digging each others playing.

My favorite part is actually Tommy's driving rhythm.
