That's funny, anything to keep them from skipping after playing the track over and over trying to learn it by picking up the tone arm and putting it back on the vinyl. I understand. :)

First...Van Halen but then it was Dokken's Tooth and Nail album that put me over the top. George Lynch is a HUGE influence!

Later on...I found myself immersed in Pink Floyd's The Wall album and ever since it's been all David Gilmour for me. On guitar, I think he has the best tone and note choice of anyone.

Joe Satriani and Eric Johnson came later :)

Wow...guitar-wise for me was definitely King's X "Gretchen Goes to Nebraska". I was 17 or 18 when that came out, and even though I had been playing for 10 years by then, I had never heard playing like that before. Ty Tabor does things no one else can do in my opinion. Tone/Feel/Emotion/Ease...he's got it all.

Also, not so much Extreme, but Nuno Bettencourt is completely under rated.

I was into AC/DC when I started, but I really didnt learn any of their songs. I did my own thing really.
