What you mean Les? Gives you a musical boner? Or you have it and it does the trick?

The music prototyper program looks amazingly well executed to me from what little I have seen.

Awesome, I can't get the demo to work on my computer unfortunately. I want it to learn more about harmony & chord progressions.

It has some cool features, like being able to play in a melody and it determining the key and chords for accompaniment.

The guy who wrote it is a real `computer scientist` Artificial Intelligence guy who happens to be passionate about music.

Imagine this concept applied to a nintendo wii controlled music game. You wouldn't need training, just a bit of rhythm and it would harmonize everything for you.

Waving the magic musical wand about.

The guy seems like a pretty humble guy too from reading the forums, listens to all the suggestions.

I'm so going to buy a copy, looks like another essential and elegant tool like RW.

It does, and they are interrelated in a compositional and theory sense. I think the workstation is going to be pretty friggin expensive though given the detailed and intuitive development. Since the HN software purchase is offering a 100 off the other as soon as its available.. I'm thinking it'll be around 5 bills give or take a hundred unless this guy likes doing charity.

You guys with cash to burn on all the fun toys will be pleased to know that the Music Prototyping software is due to be released very soon. Within the next day I think?

When Charvelguy estimated around $500 for the full prototyping version (they now are calling it Synfire Pro) I thought he estimated too high. Have you seen what this application is going to cost? € 890.00 or $1139 USD or $1424 CAD or £774 GBP! (And that is the Early Bird price until Jan.31, 2009) Harmony Navigator only costs € 99.00 or $127 USD or $158 CAD or £86 GBP. To upgrade from HN to Synfire Pro is still going to cost € 790.00 or $1011 USD or $1264 CAD or £687 GBP!

Has anyone been using Harmony Navigator to help with their compositions? Do you find it is a useful tool?

Holy Dooley! That's damn expensive. It is quite cutting edge though ..

I definitely wouldn't buy it without a fully functional trial period and least a few solid days to spend on it.

But really, just cause it's `bits` doesn't mean it's not valuable. I'd part with 1100 USD for a guitar.

If it can do what it claims and I had the money I would probably get it even at that price.

That is a lot though... yikes !

I couldn't get the demo to run on my computer unfortunately, only really watched the screencasts.

Colin said he got it running and that it was helpful

Would be interesting to see what he thinks past the `honeymoon` period.
