Since when does a singer song writer rip off a guitar players song anyway. I thought it was the other way around. Who sold more of the same song? Joe or Coldplay :) All joking aside. The song is perfect for Coldplays stlye and they should have produced the two together. Like Rod and Jeff.

I liked it when the record company for creedence clearwater revival tried to sue John Fogerty for plagarizing his own song (old man down the road/green river). I think it actually made it to court before being tossed. the Stones preempted a suit when Micks daughter told him that 'anybody seen my baby' sounded just like kd lang 'constant craving'. Mick had no idea, so he just added kd lang to jagger/richards on the song credit and that was that. at least later (some) rap guys started giving credits to james brown etc. for their samples. i think joe's could go either way.....

I never got the impression that any of Satriani's stuff was original in any way, even though he's such a great player, he fits right into a mold imo, which is, people that came after Eddie Van Halen, that draw on all different influences and take it to the extreme shred.

Who said this, "Good artists borrow, great artists steal"?

Wasn't it lennon?

I don't know? But the statement seems profound.

Both Picasso and T.S. Eliot are credited with saying, "Good artists borrow, great artists steal." Credit it to Picasso and it comes across as bravado, a declaration that great art comes from those who appropriate whatever they damn well please. Credit the quote to Eliot and it seems more like word play; to borrow is to imitate and give back, to steal is to make it one's own.

I have heard it attributed to McCartney as well, who really knows? But why not collect the best ideas around you and come up with something great?

Sorry guys but...lose respect for Joe Satriani! NEVER!

I am sticking by Joe Satriani, not only because I think it's his melody but also because he has consistently contributed to the art of playing guitar by sharing his knowledge with other musicians. He’s just not a vengeful or trite person. I have never read, heard, or listened to an interview with Satriani in which the word “integrity” didn’t apply.
