Sorry guys.

I'm funnily enough not even a Parker nut. Haven't even played one. Just heard they `play` really nice. That to me would be the ultimate deciding factor in what guitar I would purchase *if I wasn't a broke arse fool*

No need to apologise Losty. Most of us are only goofing around anyway. You think I'd say no to a free Parker.....in yer dreams.....

It's about sound for me. Fender style guitars have what I like but I rarely have owned or played actual Fenders.

My current tele is an ESP and my past tele's and strats were G&L's. I like the bouncy, snappy sound the design and pups give but I have never been a big fan of Fender's mass produced guitars - the one exception is I love the Japanese made Fenders back from the 80's. I just about always found them superior to the American made ones.

My 97' American strat is special to me because of the natural finish on the swamp ash body. The Carvin humbucker that I routed into the bridge position to give it a little more bite. The smooth playability of the neck, and the over all feel of the guitar. It has a little more weight than I expected, and I think that really adds to the tone.

I had a Gibson black beauty before it. It looked great with 3 humbuckers and ebony fretboard, but it would pinch a nerve in my neck if I played too long standing up. My fingers would get numb sometimes!

I've had Ibanez, Washburn, Dean, Charvel, and Carvin guitars in the past. Each has their good points, but for me the Fender is the most well rounded I've found.

If I ever buy another guitar it will most likely be a PRS. They blend the good traits of Fender and Gibson into one.

I've got a Squire Bullet 1 by Fender made in Japan in 83-84. These have a neck like the a telecaster, 2 Fender humbuckers. It's an awesome guitar! This was when Squire put out some really nice stuff. I've also got a Squire by Fender Precision Bass made in Japan in 82-83.
Just like any guitar maker, Squier puts out ALOT of crap. But I've got a couple nice ones that I won't get rid of.
The only "real" Fender I've played is an acoustic. I thought it was good until I bought my Simon & Patrick acoustic, blew the Fender out of the water!!

its a good guestion jouni but i think guitarists are conservative with their instruments i know i am! ther was a guitar with rubber strings that almost no one boughtif it was in the 80`s or 90`s.
and the casio midi guitar if i remeber the shape on the body right was the strat one! the (was it a) steinberg guitar or was it a hofner? with a diffrent body shape it was square and no head on it!!
it`s never to late to change your mind

I won't rule out anything, I'm sure they are just fine guitars. If I ever see one, I'll give it whirl.

Actually as far as I know fender still is the only company to make a guitar with a revese polarity switch to change the magnetic direction of the pickups.. I mean the fender Jaguar wich is still my favorite electric guitar all time... But I love all great sounding guitars.. You say move on I say okay show me something really new... And if you see one with a polarity switch let me know because I will buy it..

I have a parker fly....great guitar!!! I also have a Fender DLX....great guitar......I had a G&L Legacy....one of my fave guitars of all time...but as some of you may remember it got taken from me a while back!:(

I think what makes Fender so great is their versatility....If I could only have one guitar....it would probably be a Fender Strat.....because while Some guitars shine in some areas....a strat shines in all of them!!!! ;)

Me 2! I want a PRS, a Martin Acoustic, a Les Paul, a strat, a tele ...

I reckon the modelling guitars are only going to get better. Maybe in 10 years when the tech has really come along and hopefully I've got a heap of coin, I'll be able to have all those guitars *in one*

I was thinking the other day after tuning my guitar ... the thing I like most about open tuning is the sympathetic resonance or whatever you call it when the strings harmonize...

You wouldn't get that with the computerized altered tunings such as on the Variax would you?

I suppose mostly useful for belting out a song at a gig without having to retune

I suppose all those guitars, the feeling of the neck really contributes to the experience, the big chunky barbwire strings on the acoustics etc. Hrmm, probably need to get an arsenal of guitars as well

Don't even make me post a pic of my "2004 American Standard Stratocaster HSS Sienna Sunburst 50th Annivesary Edition" beauty of a guitar. It plays like a dream. I have had a healthy / unheathy relationship with guitars for a few years now. Fender guitars make me feel a certain way when I play them. So do Gibsons, etc. It is all in the eye of the beholder really. If you dont have skills a guitar wont help.....bottom line.

A man can dream!

>>> Don't even make me post a pic of my *killer strat*

How much did that set you back? Who cares if it blows your mind huh?

Hell, I used to blow 35 dollars for 50 secs of freefall back in the day. Worth every penny.
