I agree with you d3drocks. I just got a pod x3 and you can get less latency with hardware monitoring too

less latency?
let me correct that for you.
NO Latency!
Thats the thing with something completely hardware processed. nothing else is being done but processing the signal. why? because there are seperate "CPUS" (sort of) in hardware for each individual thing. i dont believe pod is an exception for this.
Also, Line6 is the Indurstry standard, and they are VERY Generous with their prices!

BTW, how good is the duel tone modeling? have you run to complete systems, and panned one to each ear? if so, can u make an example for me? I'm very interested, and jsut dont have the Cash for the X3 yet.

Well, technically there is latency because electrons travel at a certain speed :)

The dual tone modeling is great! You can make things sound really nice with it - I like to have one "main" tone and one effected tone. For example, I play something with heavy distortion and I have the other tone have delay and auto pan with a different ant so it doesn't give you a delay with distortion.

You can pan them to each ear in gearbox and podfarm. You get all model packs too (thats the main reason I bought it). The one dissapointment was that the pod farm you get free with it is only a vst plugin version and that adds latency. But I have come to the realization that gearbox is better because you can choose different cabs and four different microphones unlike podfarm.

I'll make you a couple of examples and riffcast it :)

Oh and it works seamlessly with riffworks. You can change whether you want just tone one or tone two, both of them, both tones dry, etc.

As far as amp modelers are concerned ....they sound pretty good .....BUT there is nothing like the "real" thing....it'll spank the amp modelers everytime hands down.
I mike my stuff every so often and it's always the same result........"man I should do this more often" I say.
Yo Flex. we should do an ALL miked amps collab my man. :)

The X3 Live rocks.....I love it. My last 2 tunes I uploaded were recorded with it....you be the judge. I am only just getting good at dialing in tones and getting a handle on all this baby can do. I agree bang for the buck is a big factor......and having the ability to use the X3L in any situation compared to what I can only describe as yet another over priced proggy from the likes of IK......the choice is an easy one.

Sorry to hijack the thread man.........and yes I know shameless plug ;)

The best way to dial in tones is to use gearbox and when you have a tone you like in gearbox, press the save button on your pod and choose a bank to put your preset (such as 18a) and press save again :)

And now back to Amplitube Fender!

Don't get me wrong, I think the IK stuff sounds nice..I have Metal and Amplitube 2 and they are amazing. Just a bit pricey.......and who can afford the Stomp IO.....not this fella.

i stopped using gearbox because my xt has some internal damage which wont allow gearbox to controll it. it sucks, but now i dial in on the pod. pod farm looks awesome, and even if it is a VST, the VST part can be used to make the tones. dragging and dropping as shown in a few videos looks awesome. no one else has done that.

I used gearbox when I used my Toneport GX. It's really easy to use.

Great thread...I can't afford much of the IK stuff (bang for buck), and I figure that the X3 Live is my next step.

Thanks for the review Rex!
