Thanks for the review Rex!

Hey anytime.....I am always going for the bang for the buck factor. There is gear I would like to have, and then gear I can afford.....lol

As for using Gearbox with the X3L, I personally don't like to. I am just not a tweak within the software kinda guy. I like hardware....and the ability to turn knobs in real life....which is another reason I chose the X3L. But that is a matter of preference...either way with GB or on the unit itself it is a magical little box.

I could never reduce the latency I get with Amplitube enough to make it usable with Riffworks. I didn't spend a lot of time on it. I'm a Line6 fanatic.. Love their toys!

Amplitube Metal sure has a lot of killer tones, so yeah, I would say it's worth the $$$.
All the Amplitube tones mix real well with Gearbox/Podfarm tones as well, really thickens up a tune.

neddless to say for most stuff pod suffices for me. i.e as long as you can eq the hell outta it. :)

I have Amplitube Metal, and I can agree with Mickey........it has some killer tones. Not sure if I would say it worth that kinda cash tho............which has always been IK's problem in my books. Their stuff is just too expensive....and the latency issue is another sore spot with me. Now mind you on my newer machine it runs better.....but it should be that difficult to get a low latency signal into RW.

Eventually I go back to good old Line 6......and realize I can get what I want there too...for less money and less hassle.

But like all things it is a matter of preference.......whatever works for you. Metal is probably the best of the Amplitube series.....for me anyways.

Thanks MickeyMix,,,,
reading though more of these posts I see the word latency pops up alot with AmpliTube,,,I have noticed this latency when I used the AmpliTube that came with my Riffworks standard,,,I'm new to this whole Riffworks thing, maybe this latency could be adjusted??? I can't see paying the big $$$$ for AmpliTube Metal when there could be latency issues? I see on the Line6 web site there is a metal bundle that can be had for $50 bucks??? Anyone out there heard of or used this???
Thanks again MickeyMix for your input!

Like everyone has said before they do sound good, but they're way too pricey, and the latency issue kills it for me. Yes, it is possible to adjust your settings to tame latency somewhat, but in my experience with IK products, adjustments just make it go from bad to worse. And my computer WAY surpasses the IK minimum system requirements for the products I've tried. I'm a tinkerer, so I gave IK a fair shot and tried my best to adjust settings to relive the latency, to no avail.

What I do know is that my Line 6 GuitarPort and GearBox work great, have no latency, and sound great for whatever I want to play (metal included!). Seems like Line 6 is the only company that has been able to figure out how to get audio into the computer for a simple home recording setup without latency.

Oh yeah, here's a metal song I recorded using Line 6 stuff exclusively.
