Joe Satriani vs Coldplay.....What do you guys think???

I was recently on Satrianis web site and read that he is taking the band Coldplay to court over a copyright infringement of one of his songs. The song in question is "IF I COULD FLY" from his -Is There Love in Space? album. He is saying that Coldplays recent tune-"VIVA LA VIDA " has the same melody and main riff to it as his tune??.
I have listened to both the tracks and have to agree there are similarities. Was just
wondering if any of you guys had heard of this ongoing dispute and what your opinions might be on the subject in question.

I think Satriani has a good court case for sure,but that only my opinion.

I heard about it. They really do sound the same but I don't think it is intentional.

Intentional OR not,I think Joe has a legitimate case here. It makes ya wonder huh? Maybe it was a subliminal copy. I mean...could Coldplay actually think they would get away with it and do it on purpose? I doubt it! Or, maybe they were inspired by the melody and just cut it too close. Either way, I think Joe will probably win.

I like the Coldplay song btw
