bought a used accustic bass question I need help..

I just bought a hohner accustic bass used for 100.00 bucks.. It has a shadow p7 pickup.. my question is the little clips that hold it in are broke so the pickup is taped in.. shadow no longer provides customer support in the us so I can't order the clamps.. Any ideas on a place I could order the clamps? or sould I get a machinist to make me some? Also This thing sound real good except it is a little overbearing should I get flat strings or tapewood to absorb the bite for recording into RW?

Vad1er I had some tape wound stings on my bass on my first recording here "Laid to Rest" and the pick-ups i have in my bass are not active but very very hot and I thought the same thing maybe they would take some bit out,,,and boy did it!!!! they are no longer on my bass,,,,, my opinion is if your your looking for a good sound for bluegrass,whind them tape wounds on! but otherwise look into some bright flats might be a better choice,,,kind of gives a more undercontrol tone to something with super hot pick-ups, but they are sort of pricey,, good luck
