I suppose if the German team had 'minced' about like that in a World Cup match, the opposing teams would have been helpless with laughter, leaving someone to walk the ball over the goal line.

Hang on a minute, ... [ring, ring] "Hello. Is that the Scottish Football Association? I was wondering if you'd consider a new national team tactic? ... Yes, mincing. ... No, not mince and tatties ... mincing! ... No? ... Aw! ... Well what about a couple of verses of the Hokey Cokey then?"
Cheers!

How on earth did you come across this video gem??

One should note, though, that this must be around 1975. The presenter is constantly explaining the shirt colors to "those viewers who are on black and white TV". The guy with the dark curls is introduced as a "color designer who normally paints houses and bridges" who came up with some "alternative designs" for Bundesliga teams.

The guy with blonde hair is one of Germany's major football legends, Günter Netzer, and his ultimate statement is that he's "very much for more colors in stadiums as a service to the audience". Boy, what a service that would have been :)
