Trent Reznor seems to be a pretty smart guy. This presentation is a case study on his success since leaving a major label and promoting his music on the web.

I can see a pattern in this since it's a little bit like how Sonoma does with their sponsorhip trophy :-)

But they hardly made $750000 in 30 hours like Trent did ;-)

That said...Trent got his start with a major label who made him VERY big and famous and only NOW is he able to look like a brilliant marketer. Not that he doesn't deserve recognition but the circumstances are entirely different with him.

Let's just say that Trent has a head start on the rest of us

I agree Rich. The hardest part is getting recognition and a huge fan base to market to in the first place! Once that's in place, you can get real creative. His fans are constantly searching for more NIN.
