That WAS awesome! Even back then, those killer progressions were in place, as were the tones.

So glad to see that someone put this deepcut on youtube. It's one of my favs from that album. Pretend, from the same show, is also on there, but the vid quality isn't as good.

Oh yeah, hands down. His tone has always been really sweet, smooth, full, and LOUD! I saw them play a little tiny place back in probably 88 or 89. It was during FHL I believe. But the place was called The Dock. It sat on Pensacola Beach for years and usually had semi-big names come through.

I loved kings X as a kid after buying the sound track to bill and teds, then I went and got the album and listened to it with my headphones late one night and remember falling asleep and this hidden track came in at the end and scared me so bad I thought it was the devil talking or something. good to hear them again I totaly forgot about Kings X they did rule my tape deck back in the day.

I have a Tone patch that is very close to Ty's....I almost crapped my pants when I first dialed it in.....but it's more his lead tone than rhythm tone.....I will post it when I get a chance.

check this dude out....he has almost nailed the tone....make sure you listen in HQ so it's in stereo......

Wow, that IS pretty close to his tone. Actually, I think one of the things I like about Ty's sound is that there's not too much difference between his lead and rhythm tones. They both have that "it's muddy but it's still cutting through like butter" quality.

While it may be possible to recreate the gear tones that Ty gets. It just brings up that whole "how much of his tone is in his fingers" conundrum. Unfortunately for us, I think in Ty's case, it's MOST of it. He just has a certain attack with his picking hand that makes for really super clean tones. If he were playing a Squire through a Gorilla practice amp, he'd probably still sound a lot like Ty.

You are absolutely right man, he's one of a kind when it comes to 'cleanliness'! Don't know how the man does it...amazing.

Holy sh*t Flex! Good find! That guy's unbelievable...although if I had just bought an Alesis EQ, I can't say I'd mount it on a wooden TV tray! :D

Thanks for posting that!
