CHICKENFOOT!
Oh I'm very pumped about this new band and CD. Can't wait to hear the tracks. Will probably be the first CD in a long time that I'll actually buy (ok, unless it's on Rhapsody). For those who haven't heard (been news for months now, but not at the FRONT of the news), you heard correctly. The band lineup is:
Sammy Hagar - Vocals
Joe Satriani - Guitar
Michael Anthony - Bass
Chad Smith - Drums
There is no doubt that this cd will ROCK BALLS! Just hearing the little clip on their website (
www.chickenfoot.us) makes me immediately realize the potential of a band like this.
Yeah, they could have gotten a better bass player, technically. But Anthony and Hagar are such friends, it'd be a shame for them not to be having fun together on something like this. And we all know that bass doesn't matter anyway! Ehem... Sorry, that wasn't me talking.
So Joe said in an email to his mailing list the other day:
"It was one year ago this last February that we first got together
in Vegas for a little jam in front of a few thousand people, and
decided to make a go of it. I'm glad we did."
"The "Chickenfoot" CD should be out in about
a month, or, two. As a new band, Chickenfoot will do a few CD
release party gigs in May to kick things off, then it's off to
Europe for a few weeks of Summer festivals. We are looking towards
a headlining tour in the USA this fall. I'm so excited about bringing
our new band and music to the stage. The energy this unit puts out
is incredible, absolutely amazing. Chickenfoot Rocks!"

I'm sure it does. I can't wait to hear what's in store. I'm glad that they'll be warming up overseas and getting to us after they've had some gel time.
The only thing I can't figure out here, is who's replacing who? Are Joe and Sammy replacing Anthony and John? Maybe Sammy and Chad are replacing Stu and Jeff? Dare I say, Joe and Chad, replacing Ed and Alex? Either way, I have a feeling that hard and classic rock connoisseurs the world over are about to get a taste of something a little, spicy....
"I think the problem might have been, that there was a stonehenge monument on stage in danger of being crushed, by a dwarf". "I really think you're making a big thing out of this". "Making a big thing out of it would have been a good idea".
