i bought a fretless frankenbass it has a hohner neck, the guy said fender body, nice bridge and emg pj pickups
my question is i read some reviews on these pups and they are sussposed to be good but mine are weak and kinda blah sounding

and yes i put a new battery could it just be pickup height..they are kinda far from the strings..i have no idea how a bass is sussposed to be set up

help please

EMG are different than other pickups, since they are powered by an active preamp and not giant magnet, you can put them as close to the strings as possible. Raise em up!

EMG bass pick ups are rippin!the tone and volume pots should to be matched with those pick-ups, I know when i have bought EMG pick-ups for my guitars and basses they came with matched pots. check the EMG web-site,,,theres a bunch of stuff there,,,might help??? could be a string issue also??? crappy strings will sound like ass on a bass,,,try some round wounds,,,roto sounds???? I got a set of active Seymours I removed from my P bass, pots,wiring.etc,, I'll ship right to ya if you want to try em?

no man..thanks .thats very cool that you would do that..but i got this bass very cheap (110 bucks)so im not really worried about it.. i going to play with height and strings..maybe i check the emg website out too

well new strings and raised the pickups way up still sounds like poo..is there a chance there hooked up wrong ..guess i gots to go to the web site and figure it out
