Chickenfoot tour strategy. WTF?

So they are already selling tix for the handful of shows Chickenfoot will be doing. But get this, the entire US tour will be over by the time the cd is even released? Bestbuy is showing a release date of june 7. The last show here in the states is May 29, then they head to Europe.

I guess this further concretes the demise of the RIAA as we know it. Acts are obviously no longer touring to support sales of media. It's a whole nother stream of revenue now.

As assumed, there are no backstage packages for Chickenfoot. Although, they are selling a general admission package for 215 dollars that includes an autographed poster and a limited edition chickenfoot magic 8 ball (I never thought I'd use all those words in one sentence).

At any rate, they're not coming anwhere near me. If I had a chance to hear the cd (or the LP, it is being released on vinyl apparently) I might find that I'd want to fly out to see the show in San Fran or LA (airtran could probably get me there and back for 250), but not without hearing the cd first!

Well, can't wait to hear the music. Maybe they'll make a dvd. I'm hoping that this will turn into a steady thing anyway, so long as Chad can still do RHCP duties of course.

On a tangent; Have you read Anthony Keidis' autobiography? I didn't realize how much of a drug problem he ha[d|s]. Thought he kicked it after hillel went in. The guy really live[d|s] life to the max. Stints as a hardcore junkie followed by stints as a health nut and touring. Back into the drugs. Rinse; Lather; Repeat. Extremes.

Used to go on drug smuggling trips with his father as a kid. Lost his virginity via arranged sexual encounter with fathers 18yo gf of the time.

It seems as if the tour is already sold out!

I guess the only way to make a good amount of money these days is through touring, not record sales

Hi Guys!!! I think this beginning US stint is just a road test to get warmed up for the tour of Europe that follows. I believe if all goes well they will come and do a more lengthy tour of the US after Europe. At least I am keeping my fingers crossed that that is what they have planned. Can't wait to hear the whole record though. The singles they have available on there site sound Great!
