Topic: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

We've got some reports that RiffWorks may not be compatible with Apple's Snow Leopard OS update. Please post any problems you've encountered in this thread.

Update:
We have a beta build of RiffWorks Standard for Snow Leopard that fixes a crash and the Audio Setup not showing.
Please download the following file if you are having problems with RiffWorks Standard on Snow Leopard.  Once we know this fixes the problems for people, we will do a build for T4 users.

Thanks,

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

I have purchased the line 6 edition of riffworks, and that won't even open on snow leopard (crashes without even trying to launch the program). I downloaded the latest riffworks T4 to see if it was an issue with the line 6 version, and it does open, but does not allow me to select an audio source (making it useless). Any help with this would be greatly appreciated, i haven't yet found another app that makes composing so easy smile

This sounds like it may be an issue unrelated to Snow Leopard. Send us an email at support by clicking on the link in my signature.  It will be easier to get this resolved via email.

Thanks!

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

The Audio Setup button doesn't work (already created a support case for this).

Can't perform much more testing on Snow Leopard since you can't play at that point :-)

Thanks,
Diego

Very true Diego! We'll keep everyone posted once we have more info. I know that Apple is already working on a big patch for Snow Leopard. Perhaps that will fix this problem.

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

I emailed support 3 days ago randy, didn't get a response. Has there been any development with the snow leopard problems? It's a real shame that i can't get it working, because i've been trying to show a friend how useful riffworks is (we're playing a gig in a few weeks that needs a loop based backing track), and i can't get it working with the line 6 edition (doesn't even launch), T4 (audio button doesn't work) or under windows boot camp (i can't activate it, as i can't release the activation key from an old computer).

Thanks

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

Very slight movement forward. I'm not sure why, but after installing line 6 pod farm and then reinstalling the drivers, i am not able to at least open riffworks. I now have the same problem with riffworks T4 and riffworks line 6 edition, the audio button doesn't work, so i cannot record.

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

I've now tested with Snow Leopard 10.6.1.  Same behaviour as before.

Thx, Diego

Same sad

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

Installed Snow Leopard and the audio setup button does nothing.

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

randy, is there any eta for a fix? Quite surprised that i haven't received a reply from support yet.

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

note to everyone, you should never ever go to the latest OS on the first little while it comes out. incompatibilities ALWAYS happen, (which is really sad with mac os since it uses a ripped off unix like kernel called bsd)

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

I have installed Snow Leopard and re installed all my aps with no problem.  Now I am trying to re-install RW and it crashes every time I try to activate it.  There is a crash report if anyone that can fix it wants it.

Trying to get more info as to what our next step will be.

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

Maybe Snow Leopard is busy piss writing his name in the snow?

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

As others have noted, I can't get the Audio Setup to do anything in Snow Leopard so can't even get started to use RiffWorks. Bummer since it's true eye candy loaded with features by the look of it.

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

i buy rw standard, and now it doesn't work. before with t4, all is ok. no good!!!

Randy,

Think Sonoma may want to put a note on the RiffWorks Standard product info & store pages noting that it is not presently compatible with Snow Leopard.

Those pages currently say MacOS X 10.4 or later & don't think it's a good idea to give prospective customers the wrong impression.

Thanks, Diego

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

Any ETA on when the Snow Leopard issue with RiffWorks T4 might be fixed?

Hi Randy,

all my non guitar player mates hare happy snow leo users!
It's a painful choice: SL or RW.

cannot be so hard to fix!

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

Cool, I was able to login! I haven't been able to login for awhile now.

Anyways, I am a Snow Leopard user. I do not have any problems. No crashes, nada, zip.

I did do a clean install of the operating system [OS]. I formated the hard drive and installed from scratch. Then I reinstalled RW, drums, etc. programs.

By chance did you all do a "inplace" upgrade of the OS?

Weird, and the audio input button is working? I did a clean install. Never do upgrade installs if i can help it.

I've done a complete remove / reinstall of RiffWorks on Snow Leopard (down to the support files, preferences, receipts, etc).  The app installs, but the audio setup button is still broken.

Re: Update: Snow Leopard and RiffWorks beta download

Has anyone else had the same experience as DRJam?

I'm dying to try RiffWorks out, and have installed the latest driver, etc., but still cannot get the audio setup button to work. I did not do a full install of Snow Leopard.

If a full install will do the trick, I'm willing to give it a try, but I don't want to go through that hassle if it will only produce the same result as Diego got.

So, wondering if anyone else was successful with the full install like DRJaM was? And DRJaM can you confirm that the audio setup button is actually working?
