Topic: Anyone game for a laugh

I am thinking of leaving my guitar, keyboards, bass, ebow, camel, voice and doing a rifflink using my much much misunderstood musical instrument, the one the only... wait for it.. original pocket electronic organ, as used by many a  famous Aussie (well one at least)..

can you guess which instrument? it ain't the washboard.

but was wondering if anyone has got an instrument, given to them as a gift, completely unusable to them, that they have put away, in the no use to me cupboard.

Could be a xylophone, glockenspiel, finger drums, bongos, wood block, cowbell, flute, recorder, panpipes or an household object, or anything that gives a sound, but must be an instrument that can make noise, but no samplers.

Obviously to start the rifflink a simple chords sequence would need to be placed, on a know instrument, to give it a basis to work on, if Pink Floyd considered using pots and pans they why can't we. (I know that they stopped due to the fact not many people can record tuned pans, in a 24 track studio.)

This may be a random and stupid idea, but then again, lets see what happens. Tell me if your game.

Re: Anyone game for a laugh

I have a Recorder that I never use. I think I tried to learn Ruby Tuesday years ago with it.  I still  it have though.

Re: Anyone game for a laugh

+ 1 on the recorder.....still have it from back in the 4th grade in Phoenix, AZ

Ya might want to ask Wedgebill 'bout his much used "Arsephone" roll

Re: Anyone game for a laugh

I've got a hand-made wood flute I picked up in Haiti! It's hard to play, but is nice sounding when played properly.

The Kazoo Khronicles.. I can see it now.. Album of the year! lol.

Never argue with an idiot. They will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

Re: Anyone game for a laugh

Now tell me you must all have beer glasses, some water, tune them with your trusty tuner - and you have a instrument - sadly it ain't asio or usb compliant, and you need a microphone, maybe the kazoo kronicles, is no more... but the beer drinkers concerto is possible, maybe the arsephone could be the lead player.

Or possibly the Stylophone Serenades.

Re: Anyone game for a laugh

Along with several arserphones I have a mic lead that reaches the en-suite toilet and a Walmart Lap Harp so the possibilities are endless tongue

Re: Anyone game for a laugh

This sounds like fun.   I can borrow my daughter's recorder--she never uses it anyway.  We could always try some interesting vocal harmonies.

Re: Anyone game for a laugh

I'm thinking, this is a good ideal, but was also thinking maybe could use the instruments to create a psychedelic pastiche sound, somewhat like very old Floyd - Barrett era, XTC - dukes of stratosphere era, and maybe even the Beatles, I have an ideal using a mellotron and maybe mechanic beats - cheap, which is in the demo drummer - It might be more workable if we bring 1 normal instrument - and one as mentioned above.

So rick - bass and flute, wedgebill - guitar or voice and arsephone, me - mellotron and stylophone, mickey - guitar and recorder, fooks - guitar and the alien thing etc... is that more workable ?
