Topic: Bass VST

I was wondering if anyone knew of any good VST's for bass guitar.  I would just go buy a cheap bass, but I really can't afford it at the moment.  I would really love to bring the thunder to my recordings though if you know what I mean.

Actually any program that I could use to create bass tracks would be cool.  I do have Ableton Live, and tried messing with it a bit, but its pretty tedious, and kind of annoying.  Seems to be my only option for the time being though.

Hey I just downloaded the new IK Multimedia Amplitube 3 program and it has a few settings to make your guitar play bass..it's actually pretty incredible. Just don't know if you want to shell out the $$ for it.

You can check it out as a FREE Demo for 10 days here:

Re: Bass VST

Amplitube SVX is also worth checking out. It's specifically designed for the bass guitar.

Re: Bass VST

Thanks for the suggestions guys.  I will definitely be looking into both.  Appreciate it.

Re: Bass VST

I'd start saving for a cheap bass. Even the cheapest bass around is gonna sound better than a detuned guitar and those VST's are expensive.

For now you can try lowering the pitch of your guitar using the shaper in Riffworks.

Re: Bass VST

I've actually tried that a long time ago, and thought it sounded so bad I never did it again.  Though that was when I had a lot less knowledge of the program.  Thanks for the suggestion though.  I am going to eventually buy a cheap bass, but I was just looking for something to get by for the time being.

Re: Bass VST

Hey yeah I recommend Amplitube as it plugs in pretty easily :-D Check my progressive bass and drum only done with amplitube and riffworks standard. http://www.reverbnation.com/enthronedwithin. You can see what it can do :-D. I'm just a learner with these progs. If you're cool with sound mixing, well the world is your oyster!

It's not necessarily needed to be honest as Riffworks pretty has MOST effects down. I mainly use Amplitube for the enveloper, volume and octave. But that's coz my project needs high and low depths.

SVX only comes with Ampeg :-(. I prefer Ashdown, as that's what I play with and prefer :-D. I'm using Amplitube metal for the higher chords, as for whatever reason Riffworks flavours each input in the mix [in my experience].

Re: Bass VST

@takeaimnfire.

Why not just collaborate with others using Riffworld? To be honest, unless you know and have played both instruments and have 2 separate personalities bass and guitar are separate beasts. Many guitarists show off their skills on bass, but bass, for I, is more about spacing, beat [on and off] synchronism, and lower sound expression.
