Topic: Wish list for new Guitar Jack

I have recently purchased Guitar Jack 2 and absolutely love it. I still can't believe something connected to iPhone/iPad can produce this type of sound quality. I also love that it is so sturdy and built like a tank (even though I don't like connecting it directly to the phone - it's much easier with the extension cable so I'm using that and it works great).
However, even as I'm enjoying the current device I can see new features which would take this type of a device to a whole new level. Here are few things I think would be especially nice to have:

1. Add MIDI port and perhaps even expression pedal port

2. Build in a high quality mic (similar to Appogee One) - but also preserve the mic port for external mics

3. Add looping functionality to FourTrack  (that should be added asap anyway for use with current devices - regardless of what type of new hardware you come up with in the future).

4. Consider partnering with makers of Ampkit and/or Amplitude so that their amps and effects can be purchased from within FourTrack (and obviously easily integrated and used within FourTrack to avoid messing around with copying sound files between apps - it is cumbersome to deal with this which I think is the main reason most people will otherwise gravitate towards GarageBand which has a lot of this as well as looping provided within the same app).

If these features could be added you would have an amazing smallest in the market all in one device for recording but also live performance.
I would easily pay $300-400 for this type of device (perhaps many others would not but you could consider releasing 2 models in the future - one high end with all these new features and the other a more basic device which mostly keeps only current functionality).

Re: Wish list for new Guitar Jack

Hello,

Thank you for using FourTrack and GuitarJack, and thank you for your suggestions! Your suggestions 1-3 have all been talked about here, great minds think alike! As for suggestion 4, FourTrack now includes GuitarTone's amps, effects, and pedals. To access this, tap Song Tools, and then GuitarTone.

You get the best guitar tones, and more tones, for less than the competition, up to 27 amps, 27 cabs, and 27 pedal effects. I think if you give GuitarTone a spin, you'll be really pleased by what you can come up with. Thanks again for your suggestions, please don't hesitate to let us know if you think of anything else, we'd be happy to hear.

Thanks for listening and replying! Great to hear 1-3 are being talked about - and hopefully not only by customers on this forum but also by important Sonoma decision makers wink
As far as GuitarTone amps and effects, I do know they are there but have not looked into them seriously (lack of looping within FourTrack discouraged me from spending much time playing with that app and instead I started investigating GarageBand, Multitrack DAW, AmpKit+ - more or less anything I can find that may integrate as much as possible within one app - my thought process here is that even if you provide the best guitar tones in the world it is frustrating if I can't easily practice within the app - and looping is critical for that).
Also, I have purchased almost all your IOS instantdrum apps (really like the sounds) but find it frustrating that those are also not directly accessible within FourTrack. What I'm ultimately looking for is as easy a way as possible to select some nice drum loops and then start practicing by layering guitar tracks (looped) next to those drum tracks (and I really don't find the idea of constantly going back and forth between apps by using audiocopy attractive - not when GarageBand does not force you to do this). I'm coming from being a Boss RC-50 looper user and one of my primary goals is to have a similar (but more flexible and fun) system for practicing just by using my phone/ipad + guitarjack (or similar device). Therefore I would like to see someone build the full eco-system for IOS similar to what Appogee GIO + Apple Mainstage 2 are able to achieve on OSX - if you look at my wish list it would pretty much get you all the way there).

Re: Wish list for new Guitar Jack

As another follow-up I checked out the GuitarTone amps and effects (as Daniel Codella suggested) and they are amazing!! I purchased all the additional ones as well and think a lot of them are better sounding than what Ampkit and Amplitude have to offer.

Re: Wish list for new Guitar Jack

I have a couple of more suggestions - one that you probably already are considering and the other one perhaps did not come up so far.

1. Add a port to next generation of guitar jack so that ipad/iphone can be charged through that port.

2. Consider building a high quality bluetooth pedal (metal construction like guitar jack 2, boss and other high end products) that can be used to control FourTrack and StudioTrack software functions functions (for hands free performing, looping, etc). There are relatively cheap and not very high quality bluetooth pedals out there already that allow page turning in music apps etc - but why not build something that specifically takes advantage of integration with your own apps (this would certainly be a huge differentiation factor for Sonoma and more specifically your ios apps).
