SelectRecordPath

From Guide

Jump to: navigation, search

Select Record Path tells RiffWorks to record temporary audio files to a different location, usually to another hard drive. Most users do not need to set this value. This path has nothing to do with where you save RiffWorks Song (.rws) files.

Some systems may achieve improved performance from recording to a different physical drive than the Operating System page file. But no benefit will be seen if it is just a partition on the same physical disk.

Work-around for Known Issue on Windows

On Windows, the dialog appears to only allow selecting a path on the C: drive. However, it will accept paths on other disks to be typed in manually using the following procedure:

  • Create a folder that you would like to use, e.g. "F:\RiffWorksRecordings\".
  • Open AudioSetup
  • Click on Select Record Path
  • Double click on a folder in the window (any folder) so that a path shows up in the text box at the top.
  • Paste or type in a complete path you want on a different drive, including the drive letter, e.g. "F:\RiffWorksRecordings\". Just a drive letter, e.g. "F:\", won't work. The path has to include a folder that already exists.
  • Click OK.
  • If RiffWorks can't find or use the folder, it will default back to using the original location.

For Experts, the value can also be edited directly in the registry here: HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/Sonoma Wire Works/RiffWorksStandard/TempPath
