Hi Folks,

Well, I broke down and installed GR 2 (AU and VST versions) onto my PowerBook and - cowabunga - I've got all of GR 2's options (including the Rig Kontrol) inside of Riff Works. It shows up in the "Amp" menu as "GuitarRig2 FX".

Okay, one other reason (besides it working) that makes this so cool is that (at least on my setup), Guitar Rig uses much less CPU and memory than even the LE version of Amplitube provided as part of RW. It's also superbly cool because GR's tape looper is good for simple layered things, but by adding RiffWorks' recording and layer capabilities, I really can become a one man band!

Hmmmm, I wonder if this is what my elementary teachers meant when they warned me about playing with myself  !! I could lose days of productivity with this setup.

Off to shred some old blues tunes. Maybe "Born Under a Bad Sign" in Bb on a doubled, distorted 12 string emulation from a Rich Warlock ... Uh, if you don't hear from me by next Sunday, you may want to call the Phoenix morgue to collect the body because I've probably passed away because of no food ...

I just set up the following:

Dual Plexi's - Channel A Hot and screechy, Channel B, like a Metallica Rhythm
Splitter set to 18% left and right for each A and B
Skreamer set to "Moise Maker" on A input
Ensemble set to "Simple Chorus" on B input
Parametric EQ with a 6db boost at around 350Hz
Spring Reverb on final
All fed into 4 4x12 UK60's Tall with Tube Condensers set to Edge.

From Chicken Squawk to depression rumbles with the tilt of a foot :O

And using less than 24% of my CPU at full rumble.

BTW - using the M-Audio MobilePre USB on Power Mac G5.

I have 27 days to go on my Demo Version of G Rig..... and I don't think it's gonna be enough!
It's way more flexible then GBox and the Bass tones are NO COMPARISON!!!!!!! G-Rig Hands down!! As far as bass is concerned.......
G Box holds it's own as far as guitar tones though........ but G-rig is also way cool!

I downloaded the demo last night and messed with it for a while. Man I was blown away. Some pretty cool bleep!

I even broke out the credit card, till I saw how much it costs........why does it have to be so freakin expensive like Amplitube is? Man they are just rediculously expensive.

But aside from the fact unless you are Bill Gates you can't afford it, it is seriously amazing stuff. I have today off to sit and make the best of each 30 minute session.......lol

I also downloaded the GR demo - but I can't route my guitar to play through GR. Maybe it's because I use the POD XT Live as source connected via USB. Do you guys know if there's a way to get this to work? I really don't want to connect to my soundcard via traditional 1/4 " jack, I'll rather keep it simple as it is with my variax DI through my POD XT Live.

I don't expect that you'll be able to get through to GR from the Pod :( . GR does require a routable signal.

Maxe...you need to setup the PODxtl to send a clean guitar signal and set the harware monitor slider to 0%. Then select G-Rig in Riffworks as your software amp. This is how I use G-Rig, Amplitube, FreeAmp2, etc. through my PODxtl and it works great. Hope this helps...

Well poke me in the eye with a plastic daffodil and call me Margaret!!

I'm well impressed with GR2 (esp. the 'Crystalline' effect).

I can see why it costs €499 over here (about $650 US). Oh, the dilemma ...

... new computer or GR2?
Cheers!

Dont be fooled by the allure of GR2. Bob can make a string and a stick sound like a stratavarius. :o Actually I would like all their cab options, but its to much for a unit I cant use in a live situation.

Thanks for the advice Bob. There only one problem: GRig doesn't show up in RW... I gues it's because I have the Line 6 version. This version is monogame - it won't allow any strangers in the bedroom - so to speak. When I win the lottery I'll crossgrade. If I win big - I'll buy Line 6 too... yes the company. And then the first thing I would change... yeah! you figure!!! :D

I've not been able to get GR2 working under the Windows version of RiffWorks as an amp. My success has been with the Mac version.

Apparently, others haven't had success under Windows either. Looks like it's time for us all to trade in our Windows systems for a new Mac Pro (luckily, I already have both :P ).
