Simultaneously recording a guitar w/Reason

Hi there,

I am using the following setup:

Godin-->Roland GI-20-->PodxtLive <------------

-->Laptop-->Reason3----|
| |
-->Riffworks2--

I want to record the guitar source and triggered Reason sounds into Riffworks simultaneously.

Using the Rewire option in Riffworks I am able to play the guitar through Riffworks and trigger Reason at the same time. However, when I start recording only the guitar source is recorded (i.e., when I play back I do not hear the triggered Reason sounds too). Upon troubleshooting I determined that Reason is not also entering its record mode when I start recoding in Riffworks. I can work around this by manually pressing record in Reason (while recording in Riffworks) and then toggling back into Riffworks - then both the guitar and synth are recorded in Riffworks as desired but it is inconvenient.

Is there some setting or other way to automate Reason so that is also starts recording when I enter record mode on Riffworks?

As long as you have it (Rewire/Reason) checked as a backup it should work and you will hear sounds from both RW & Reason simultaneously. But both have to be triggered to record and I do not know of anyway to change that.

Once you have mixed it to riff, or exported as wav or ogg....the reason side will be recorded. Hope that makes sense.

I guess it all depends on how you use it, I always record the guitar parts first then synch my bass/drums or whatever after in reason. Then mix to riff.......everyone has a different method it seems......out of curiosity what are you using Reason for? Bass? Drums? Horns? Keyboards?

I am trying hard to learn Reason so I am always interested in hearing how others go about using it.
