Well with the way things are going at Line 6 I would still say toneport and standard riffworks. It works fine for me and I like the ability ti have more amp mdels and good vocal presets

Yep. TonePort/GearBox and RiffWorks Standard is the way to go if he's not upgrading from RW 1.1. The inclusion of Amplitube LE and the ability to use other plug-ins makes it worth the extra $30.

Even though I got the free upgrade to RW Line 6 Edition, reading the info about RW Standard convinced me to purchase the $60 crossgrade.

Just don't let him get the GuitarPort RiffTracker package. You can't transfer RiffWorks to another Line 6 device. I bought my GuitarPort and RiffWorks 1.1 separately. Eventually I will upgrade my hardware to a TonePort (or whatever replaces the TonePort).

Hey Chip!
Sorry I'm not able to help on this one. Just wanted to tell you, you're not the only one having trouble registering Amplitube. I tried to help a friend of mine getting Amplitube to work last night... it wouldn't register either.
Peace.

A piano has about 7.500 moving parts - that's why I play the guitar...

I called Rick last night to give him my advice...........
The TonePort....baby!!!!
I was going to get the KB37 TonePort ....til I saw the drivers weren't working with RW2 .... another thread. instead I came home with the TonePort UX2....... totally rocking..... also came home with a Yamaha PSR-E403 keyboard.... I'm not sleeping tonight!!!!!!!
I did have the GuitarPort but needed to upgrade....GP still kicks arse though..... it's just that the UX2 does it BETTER........
I haven't even bothered to install the Ableton that comes with it......YET.....I'm more than happy with RiffWorks Standard....NOT the Line 6 version, why would you bother when you can get Standard for a few bucks more...... no probs with my Amplitube...
I can also use Guitar Rig 2 with it..... or Free-Amp....

Unless your friend has a guitar interface/di box already then Id have to say Toneport. Abelton rewires into Riffworks quite nicely, too. There was some talk about Amplitube2 going around for $249 but he would still need an interface. Also Im a Line6 fanboy.

You could log on as him and download it for him if you have highspeed, just burn it to CD.....

Actually, burning it to a CD for someone else won't work because it would be tied to your user name. Please ask him him contact us directly at support@sonomawireworks.com and we'll work something out for him.

Looking forward to hearing his stuff!

Thanks!

I think ShredRex is correct...

For what it's worth, I downloaded RiffWorks Standard on my internet connected computer, transferred the installer file to a thumb drive, plugged the thumb drive into my new faster computer, ran the installer with a wireless USB connection for activation. It doesn't matter what computer it is downloaded to, as long as the installer is not "run" until it is put on it's permanent "home".
