Instant Bass Players Would Rule!!!

Hey guys,

What do you think about this?

If you had another tab in the backups next to the Instant Drummers for Instant Bass Players, with a selection of different styles, and they were as simple to use as the Instant Drummers,

Choose a style and the key your in and let em rip.
And of course have the same adjustments that you have for the Instant Drummers such as intensity and variation.

I just bought an Acoustic/Electric Bass guitar this summer too. It’s a short scale AXL. I really like it because it’s the same size as a regular acoustic guitar. I haven't gotten around to playing it much though. I used to have an electric Bass guitar years ago. Then when my band broke up I ended up giving that Bass guitar to the Bass player as part of the equipment split. I was thinking about getting a Stand Up Bass Fiddle, since I do a lot of Bluegrass stuff, but damn, they are hard as hell to play, and don't come by cheap, for a decent one. Stuffing one in my Kia isn’t an easy task either.

Short scale basses (IMO) are usually better for studio work. Bill Wyman of the Stones was strickly a short scale player and had custom ones built for him throughout the years.
On the Instant Bass thing it probably would be a bit tuff to work out with all the scales variations....not to mention the keys. It also would probably be fairly expensive.

An Instant Bass Player has been on our wishlist for a number of years now. I don't think it would be technically super tough, but these things all take time... We would have to add the concept of key to Riffs or even segments of Riffs to be able to do it properly, but it would be really cool. Kick on the Instant Drummer, kick on the Instant Bass Player, and jam...

I think the next best thing is throw your stuff on RiffLink and have somebody "bass" you!

I almost forgot; Instant Groupies, Instant Wealth, Instant Fame, some scantily clad women on the GUI, and a Snow Cone Maker.

Now that would be cool.

Don't DO IT!!!!!

I'm sorry this one bugs me.......like the instant drummer bugs my drummer/bass player..... as guitar players we should ALL be able to put down a rudimentary bassline at worst using octavers, Fake-o Bass, Variax......... etc.......
Just pick up a cheap bass and lay it down or we will all sound like a cheesy Casio type keyboard player in accompaniement mode ... very CHEESY!!!! You get the picture.......
Plus you'll be putting guys like Gator out of a bass gig!!!
What's next .....instant singer..... come on... just play your instrument!!!!!

Come on guys....Instant Bass would SUCK.......... I don't care what they say...there would be no way to NOT sound like an "el cheapo" keyboard!
Sorry to rant brothers.......I WANT a Snowcone!!!!!!!!!
It's all good on paper though.........

I am sorry...but Mickey is right...4 words to answer this thread....
"BUY A BASS GUITAR"...if you can play guitar you already know how to play the bass.

You could technically use the REX player to play bass loops. One of Dug's friends made some bass REX loops for us a few years ago and they sounded great. They were real bass lines made with a real bass guitar recorded with real studio equipment. The audio were then converted into REX loops using Propellerhead's ReCycle software. Pretty simple, if you have the software.

I think Randy is saying that he has some cheap Rex bass loops for sale. Anyone?

I don't know about coffee, but some kind of USB interface that when you "junt" 4 times it pours beer in your mouth, ya know, so you can keep your hands on the guitar LOL I guess this should go with the "adult beverage" thread in the Green Room!

REX loops would probably be the simplest thing if you just plain don't want to play bass or program it, and I'd guess there's plenty out there somewhere. There's the one advantage that one's wife won't notice REX files like she'd notice yet another guitar in the house...you know who you are!!!
