Hi

I was wondering if it would be possible to export (as a wav file) one part of a riff, then edit it with a different editor and then re-import the editted part.

There are a lot of times when I get a good take except for one little bit. I think that it'd be great to to be able to edit that bit out or whatever and then re-import the take.

And as long as I'm asking the above question, is there any basic editor stuff in V2?

Just wondering...

Thanks!

We added volume automation on all the layers, so you can just cut out a bad note in RiffWorks directly. Just turn down the volume on that note and you're good to go.

Hi Dave,

I got to thinking about this feature (volume automation) and I'm wondering is this a graphical edit (seeing a line across the riff with little points to break up db level of the volume) or is this a grab the knob and turn it this way here and that way there and the knob position is remembered? Or both, and can it be editted later??

Also I really would like to know if you can inport a wav file (or other audio formats) into a riff like Acid or Live?

Thanks!

It is a graphical interface on the layer. It can be edited at any time.

We don't have a way to import a wave file yet. We just don't have the resources to do it properly just yet. And we don't like to implement features that we can't get right.

There is no doubt that V2 has a bunch of improvements. We have all sorts of new little features AND a couple of huge new features. Unfortunately its taking us a little longer than expected to get out the door, but it will be worth the wait. ;)

Hi Dave,

Are you guys code complete and just doing bug fixes at this point? Can you give any hints about when this is going to be released? Last question, can I get a beta copy, please?

Thanks!!

LSeater,

We're trying not to set any sort of expected ship date because we didn't make our previous schedule. I wish I could give you more info, but we had to start limiting what we say on this front.

When you say it's graphical, how does that show up? Is it a button you push during playback for kind of a punch in/punch out point, so you can define a segment where you want the track silenced?

Once it's silenced, can you bring it back? Can you have more than one "silent segment" per track? Is it highlighted in the timeline or something? thanks for any detail, this sounds potentially VERY helpful.

:D

It is kind of tough to explain without a graphic to look at. Hopefully we will have a graphic up soon, that shows how this feature works. It is really fun to play around with. If you're familiar with other applications, it is kind of like a break point editor for gain, but all of our breakpoints are beat-sync'd.

There is some stupid, unsupported, little tricky, method to do this. :)

- The RWS file is a ZIP archive ;)
- You can find files with PSI extension inside.
- Import PSI file to Audacity as a RAW DATA
- Do what you need. :)
- Export to WAV.
- Change extension to PSI.
- Replace your old PSI with new one.

This works but it is stupid (you have to change RWS file without RiffWorks...). I don't recommend this and of course I can't take any responsibility for this!!! :) I hope I didn't break any rules...

Best regards,
Robert

P.S. I can't wait to see new V2 ;) RW is an amazing software!
