OK, like many of you I am kind of getting stuck on some limitations, instant drummer is now officially driving me nuts. :)

So I started off trying to incorporate some drum & bass loops into my recordings. Which is actually pretty cool and alot of fun as well. That snowballed into me experimenting with FL Studio, and then Reason.

After a week or so of messing around I am settling on Reason due to the integration with Rigffworks. The 3R's work beautifully together. I have the world at my fingertips!!! I have been reading, experimenting, watching tutorials and the like.......

What I need now is some help putting it all together and making it work. I have a tune in RW that I am creating some bass lines for using Reason. My question(s) really applies to anything I add to RW:

1. Once I have created a bass track using Reason, am I better off to break it up into bar length loops, and convert to rex files?

2. Or is there a way to use the reason plugin and track the entire song in one long bass riff?

3. Is there someone that has experience with all 3R's and suggest another or better method of creating tracks and importing them into RW?

Anything you can contribute I want to hear it!!! LOL

Are you creating the bass tracks in Reason with a keyboard? (I assume so) I would just leave the bass in Reason and record to riff in RW. This gives you the flexabilty to change the bass line later and create new riffs. My music tends to be syncopated so this might not work as well for death metal, etc. There is really no "right" way to do it I guess. It just depends on the type of song and the feel you are going for. You can track the entire bass line in RW just by assigning the L/R thingies (not sure what you call the sliders you move to tell reason what to play) to the riff you want it to play along with in RW.
I hope some of this makes sence...I haven't had my coffee yet. Good luck!

Just the man I wanted to talk to!

Actually I am just using my mouse to point and lay out the bass paterns and notes I want. Work pretty easy.........

But once I have the track playing in RW how do I record it? Do I just record the riff with the reason track up and synched, rather than having to make a rex file of it? Is that all there is to it?

My initial game plan was to track the entire bass line as a whole, then just play it along with the bars recorded in RW and go that route........

I will do mys best to show you.........but I am very very green myself.

It will take sometime to really get a grasp as to what this software is capable of.......and how ot make it happen.

I am looking forward to learning it though..........makes me wonder how I ever got by without it before.

Shred I'm just wondering when you're going to post something with all this Reason stuff.........
I miss your'e posts on the Riffcaster dude!!
I too installed Reason bout 3 weeks ago but have yet to record with it....
Maybe soon...
I also installed Giga studio and Recycle but it had been keeping me away from my guitar so I've since left it alone.....
I can barely get enough time to play/record with Riffworks... so I'm going to lurk on this forum to try and learn at my own speed / (SLOW) lol
I'll learn from you guys!!!!!!!

somewhere in FL.......... Mike

hey mick,

Anyway, my submission to riffrumbe had free Rex2 files (bass and keyboards) and Reason (trumpet/brass/screams/bongo/sum other stuff)

The rest was trashfunk drums from Riffworks and of course, guitar.

and that was the reason I submitted this song, to how up what can be done, now, let's wait and see what shredrex and you will get for everyone.

cheers
