Yikes, in the northern hemisphere... it's on June 18th...

Dan, Doug, Michelle, anyone?

If there is no sign of V2... I might have to spend my money on Line6 PowerPack. I heard it was a good investment anyways!

Well, I figured that V2 must be going through more extensive testing before it goes out to the general public... I know the value of extensive testing... I also work in the software business!!!

So, I decided to purchase a few new drummers instead! It's almost like a new version of RW!!! I bought:
- Gas Up and Go
- Heavy Core Too
- Half Time Shuffle
- Train Comin

I am very impressed with Heavy Core Too... lots of variance and a ton of beats... definitely worth it. The others have somewhat less variety, but provide a new feel to my song writing. As a good friend of mine said, the basis for any good song is the back bone and rhythm!!!

Hey great job on those drummers... Instant Drummer is the best drummer tool out there! Thanks.

I too am in the software business and lead very large development efforts. One thing that is also useful is planning. If you cannot accurately project your end date, or find that the test cycle is having a profound effect on the end date then this would indidate that there are quality issues OR that the test cycle got started too late. In either case, marketing should set better expectations for product availability. If it is, and always was, September then setting false expectations of May/June is not helping the product development perception. If on the other hand the true schedule was May/June and it is going week to week based on the test cycle then that is not very reassuring. You can't test quality in.

I'm guessing we'll see something at the Summer NAMM show. Would make sense and would also keep Line6 happy. Just a few more weeks.

No I'm pretty sure this is never coming out. It's just a ploy to get people to buy V1 and waste their time on this web site. Some people get their kicks by making others suffer. I don't understand why, but it is what it is.

I got the Demo for V1 almost 3 years ago. It didn't work for me because I'm also a keyboard player and they couldn't get the ReWire tools to work. They said it would work, but if you had more than 3 ReWire items on your PC it would crash Windows when starting RW. It took over a year for them to go from V1 to V1.1 which fixed the ReWire problem. When they fixed it, I bought V1.1.

I think I'm giving up on checking this site for when V2 is coming out, because I don't really think it is ever coming out. They must have tons of problems because no software company could even stay in business the way these guys run this. I'm sorry to have to say that, but reading the other posts from people who (like me) work in the software industry I see that they feel the same way. They know their company could never stay in business if it ran like this. ONLY the music biz could ever do this kinda thing and users would deal with this.

Sorry. I'm tired of waiting. I'm gonna go buy something else and get my projects finished. AmpliTube, Guitar Rig, Alien Connections and several others have a really great product and they come out with real updates and new products.

bamim2 and others,

I have to say that I'm a little surprised with the tone of this thread... I feel like we've done nothing but try to be helpful in these forums. In fact, I believe I have personally answered every post you have ever made here.

We also try to be more open than most companies would ever be. Sometimes, in our enthusiasm for what we do, we talk about what we're working on and where we're going with our products and our company. Personally, I kind of like that we have the freedom to do that, but that seems to have created some bad feelings around here...

As for our schedule to release RiffWorks Standard and RiffWorks Line 6 Edition, we have decided not to quote dates anymore. Our testing matrix got quite a bit larger with added support for MacOS X (not to mention MacOS X Intel). We also have a fairly high standard for what works and what doesn't. We have fixed a pile of bugs that were performance related on specific computers. Many companies would let these lie since the product technically works and meets the spec. That isn't good enough for us. If the meters are sluggish on a Mac Mini, we're going to fix it. If we can't achieve low latency on a specific CPU, we investigate why, and fix it. We also added some features at the last minute (which is a obvious no-no to you software guys) that really make this upcoming release of RiffWorks cool.

I'm sorry you have such bad feelings for our product and our company. We certainly aren't a typical software company in a lot of different ways, but we're proud of our mission and our products. That said, there are a bunch of other great products out there including a couple of the ones you mentioned. In fact, we have a partnership with IK Multimedia to include Amplutibe LE with RiffWorks Standard. We can't give a better endorsement than that. :)

I have to agree with Dave's opening statement. Banim2, I read your post first thing this morning and was not impressed with your comments at all. Not quite sure why you think you are justified to say such things...........but that took big balls to make remarks of that nature. None of which I feel are justified in the slightest.

Since Dave has to be politically correct and all, I will come out and tell you point blank what I think since I do not have to be as reserved. You comments are not warranted, insulting and simply a load of crap. I wish I could have the 45 seconds I took out of my day to read that rubbish back again.

You have no business taking that tone or direction in this forum, and I am sure many will support me when I say that is not welcome here. Yes we are all waiting on the release of version 2, I am anxiously waiting myself.........but for god's sake lets be adults here!

We are talking about some recording software, and it will surely come. You sound as if it is life and death you have it now, and if that is the case I feel truely sorry for you that this is the most pressing matter in your life to focus on. I personally do not feel as if any of us devoted RW users are suffering using the dreaded 1.1 version you speak so fondly of.

In short, I guess I would like to wish you the best of luck in your pursuit of another alternatives to this crappy software and company....as you stated, they are out there to help you finish the projects you so desperately need to have completed. I certainly hope they fulfill your needs, since clearly this site, company and software could not.

Adios my friend........I am sure whichever "superior" software you decide to use will have user forums available as well, and I hope you can learn to exercise some restraint in using them in the future.

On a side note.........Dave you clearly need to hire this guy as he will set all things straight not only within Sonoma, but the music biz as well :)

Bamin2.....you really are off base man. If you don't have the patience to wait for RW2 you are missing out is all I can say. I am not allowed to get into specifics but it will be well worth the wait. If you choose to purchase another piece of software you may regret it after we all creating masterpieces and you are stuck with a huge learning curve. Sonoma is by far one of the best software companies I have ever had the privledge of working with and I look forward to all future releases.

Bottom Line: To suggest that Dave and the boys (and Michelle too) are never planning to release RW2 makes you look really foolish.

P.S. I am glad I can read really fast...I only wasted about 20 seconds of my day reading your lame post.

Maybe someday when you all have more time, I will tell you how I really feel :)

Hi Dave,

Don't let that guy get you down! I'm want the next version to come out like everyone else and I'm prepared to give you money to prove it! And I also know that there's a lot of work to cover for such a small group of developers and that not every test case can be anticipated when you are developing for cross-platform and different CPU architectures.

I think you did hit one item on the head when you said "we have decided not to quote dates anymore". I think since you did state a time frame early on of the expected release of V2 that that there is a level of frustration by those of us that are loyal to RW since each week that goes by without an announcement is like waiting for Christmas without knowing what month it is right now! Are we at July 4th or at December 24th? How soon is now?

I hope this isn't taken the wrong way. I'm not trying to defend or attack anyone, just trying to voice what I think people are feeling.

Peace!
