I had a big problem trying to get the software to run on my DAW because it wasn't hooked up to the internet. It kept askin for my Sonoma Key and password but that didn't work. I contacted support but while I was waiting for their response. I was frustrated because I couldn't use this software that seemed so cool and I had spent $100 on drums that wouldn't work unless activated. So I kept trying and I accidentally came across this fix. I figured it out by accident. When you are asked to activate the product choose the save the file to your computer instead of activating online. A data file with the RiffWorks Logo is downloaded to your computer. The file is a 2kb data file called Sonoma Wire Works Combined Registration Activation. Copy the file to the install directory where you have RiffWorks installed. Dont choose to activate when you install RiffWorks on the first boot. When you restart the application instead of it asking for the Sonoma Key you get a licence agreement pop up. Click yes and your ready to go. So far its working for me. The drummers are loading without any problem. Pass this on to anyone who might run into the same problem

Hi Ted,

This is actually really interesting. Our engineers were testing a method like this, but I was under the impression that it was currently impossible. If you click on the RiffLink tab, is your user name already filled in? Could you describe the process of how you downloaded the "Sonoma Wire Works Combined Registration Activation" file in any more detail? Did you activate RiffWorks on your other computer first? Which, if any, files did you then transfer to the computer without an internet connection?

Thanks a lot,
Garrett

Hey Garrett thanks for getting back to me in my email so soon by the way. I had not installed RiffWorks on my internet computer yet so when I did the same pop up came up asking for my Sonoma Key I entered it then it asked if I wanted to activate online or save the file. I chose the latter and thats when i got the Combined Registration Activation file. I put that on a cd and tranfered it to my other computer and pasted it in the RiffWorks folder I installed to on my hard drive. I then started RiffWorks and the licensing agreement pop up came up instead of asking for the Sonoma Key. I clicked yes and RiffWorks started. I then attempted to load one of the drummer files which I had tried earlier and it said I couldn't until RiffWorks was activated. This time it loaded fine and played . So I loaded two more files and the same result. And yes if I click on the RiffLink tab my name is filled in.

Yeah Wedgebill, I loaded all the instant drummer files I purchased last night. Very Cool!!! I love that I can record with the Line 6 TonePort UX8 at 32 bit and then export the riffs and arrangement to a 32bit wave file import it into Nuendo and deepen the production even more. It will be off the hook when you can import wave files into RiffWorks. Like you said totally hooked. Haven't went to sleep yet!

You can import wav files into riffworks, but you need a copy of Amits intellriffer.

I tried this and none of it worked for me. No Combined Registration Activation file ever came up. It just keeps saying that I have 28 days to register the product. Maybe this was for a different version of RiffWorks - -maybe from Line 6?
