RiffWorks Recording Software (Mac/Win)

Having used Riffworks now for some time, I've found there are some things I miss or would like to see incorporated in a future release of the program:

1) Remove the text field for Riff Notes and create a button which opens in external Notepad.exe. This simplifies text formatting and allows for more text notes.

2) I'd love to have a button for toggling mute. A "Mute/Unmute All" button below the "Unsolo All" button.

3) Make the space for the layer name bigger/longer. The extra space could be made from moving the text for "Levels" and putting it above the Level meter.

4) In Effect Presets, I can definitely see some room for a "Store C" and "Load C" button.

5) Autosave every N minute!

6) Undo button.

Thanks for an otherwise great program! :)

7) Mix-to-Riff current riff without dragging to song line.

An 'autosave' feature is a great idea...but I think my computer has locked up while in RW, and after shutting RW down and restarting, RW will restore the previous file. That has definitely saved me a couple of times!

Here are some of mine,
1: Bounce to layer : for id's, rewire, and rex , are rendered to the same riff but as a new layer.

2: selective mixdown : example click a button on each layer to select state (or even the lock) and the mixdown only mixes down those layers, imports them back into same riff and lets alone other layers.

and big +++ on suggestions by others,
1: mixdown directly without dragging to songline
2: copy layers between riffs.
3:A chilled beer dispenser ;)

1. Loop recording in the song layer.

2. A way to view and listen to the song layer while also viewing individual riffs..

Version 2.x is a few years old now (anyone know just how old it is? 2005 maybe?)

I don't see a 3.0 in the near future. It seems that SWW has its hands full at the moment. Anyway, don't hold your breath on these new features...

We've been asking for this stuff for YEARS now!

Great suggestions everyone.

Here's another:
I'd like to have the possibility to sort or order the layers.
The latest recorded layer always go to the bottom, which often is fine.
However, sometimes I would like to order them differently.

Version 2 came out mid to late 2006 and the first major upgrade (v2.1) to it came out about 6-9 months after that.
The current v2.5 only came out a couple of months ago.

I have to say that, on the whole, Sonoma is a very listening company and it truly works with and for its customers. So far, all upgrades have been free to existing users and, although I maybe wrong, the vibe I get is that Sonoma would like to try to keep that going. Version 3, depending on just how major an upgrade it will be, might be different.
The guys have been coping with major office moves recently as well as trade shows. I know they want us to keep ideas coming and suggestions as to how to make things better so, regardless of how long it takes, keep 'em coming! :)
Cheers!
