Gotta like how all my fav guitar gear (save for the line 6 stuff and RW of course!) pretty much reached it's zenith in the 1950's and 60's. All that they do is make 'em look so pretty I want MORE!
... Lighten up Francis

desktop:
vista 64 bit (no issues yet)
AMD Phenom 9850 2.5GH Quad Core processor.... was able to get it to puke trying to run T-RACKS3 (???)
6 GB RAM
750 GB HD -- half full already
LINE6 GUITARPORT

Laptop:
Vista home prem.
HP pavillion dv6000 series 1.8GH duo core
2 GB RAM
120GB HD -- mostly full because VISTA takes up like 40 GIGS or more!
(currently have a new running topic on RW in LINUX, which I'm about to dump Vista on this and go fully LINUX - got a virus on it and ready to disown windows forever if I can get RWS to work in LINUX Ubuntu)

yo, wizzle - the stuff made in the 50's and 60's is still the BEST GEAR EVER MADE!!

if you have any old tube reel-reel machines like an ampex 351 or even an old 601, run anything you master through the preamps and it will warm up any brittle digital signal big-time! and you can run it hot and get a little tube overdrive goin' on!

as far as amps, I know there is a lot of gear out there that kicks ass and is loud as hell, but one of my favorites was an old fender music-master 14 watt tube amp... sounded so great for the studio. If you mic'd it you could get away with it on stage. My old Fender Bassman 135 watt tube head was the best rig ever.

I still have an old Morley volume pedal, the huge silver one, which still kicks butt as a signal boost for solo's and stuff! I also used to own a Mutron3 effects pedal.... not sure if that was made in the 70's or earlier, but it was WAY COOL! It was mainly an effect for bass guitar, but it worked really well with guitar, too... I think bootsy used it big time back in the 70's.

yeah... you can get these things still, just very pricey! I think I ended up getting like $450 cash from a guitar shop in seattle for my mutron3. they were selling them for $750 10 years ago

If you look closely you can see it in their amp room, or that may be a different Mutron.

couldn't make it out, but here's the one I had..

3 switches and some knobs. made the most psychedelic sounds you can think of. had a touchy power supply though, if you nudged it the wrong way it would send a loud "crack" through your amp! lots of duck-tape to get it stable.

awww the good old days, of which I can't remember much
