Exit RW, using Task Manager if you have to, check under the Processes tab and exit from there if RW is not showing under the Applications tab. Restart RW and it'll probably clear itself, if not reboot your computer. This little querk happens to a few of us occasionally, can't tell you why though :)
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!

That could also be an ASIO driver conflict......Creative ASIO drivers sometimes reak havoc on Riffworks..........causing it to hang like this......you may have to go into the registry and reset the ASIO driver.

.....but first we will probably need a little more info from you i.e. ASIO device ....computer specs etc.

you were right it was the creative asio driver. it seems to have switched to it by itself but i changed it back to line 6 asio and restarted rw and it worked like a charm

I recommend deleting the creative asio driver from your windows/system32 folder. You could always reinstall it if you ever find a use for it.

This just happened to me. RW Std. worked fine but I was having intermittent problems w/ asio4all driver (in all apps.). When I reinstalled asio4all, RW would freeze at "loading cowbell". Can't get it to work again, even after rebooting. New asio4all installation works fine w/ other apps. Help !

Hey I figured it out ! When trying to load RW, I noticed in the lower left hand corner, the input driver (asio) was one that never worked with RW. Since I had just reinstalled asio4all, RW hadn't seen it yet and loaded the first asio driver on the list, preventing it from running. As in GuitarSlinger's post, I uninstalled the driver at fault, and RW works as before. Aright !!!
