your are all having so many good ideas ! thanks
but for my case it is not what i expect since these small riff is are between two other riffs, (it is like creating small phrases) so if i add some blank bars, the tune is kind of strange. best way will be to have line all the time.
may be there is a technical impossibility here ?
the other option is to stop using small phrases and become more talkative ... but for this i need to improve my way of playing ... (-:
anyway thanks again

I'm confused now. You'd have the same problem between riff with lines surely, or maybe I've misunderstood. Rifflink it and add me via the invites and I'll see if there is anything I can suggest.

well, no because with lines i can "drawn" a smooth slope between between (for example) the 2/3 of beat 2 and 3 and the end of the 4 bars.
i'll try to create the rifflink you are proposing, it will be my first one !

yeah but you can still get a smooth draw down with the bars....It's a bit like pixels really; you are dealing with less of them in a 4 bar riff (i.e. it happens quicker...it might look like it;s drastic, but it doesn't sound drastic. I've never really found any difference in pulling down the bars vs lines...Link it and let me see what you are trying to do...there has to be a first time...:)

here it is, the post in rifflink is called "blocks instead of lines" with a (short) comment for each riff.
