I recorded my vocal track (thru Line 6 UX-2) & it sounded fine recording. But, when I played back, it seems to transfer/apply the various Riff Effects to the vocal track! I only want the desired Layer/Effect for the music, and the vocal to have it's own sound separately (it's own Layer/Effect). Bottom line: can vocal tracks be recorded without being altered by the Riff Effects feature?

All layers are altered by the Riff Effects mate, I reckon

Thx., Wedgebill, 4 your kind reply! That's what I was afraid of! So, that means I can't record vocal layers without it being independent from the riff's chosen Riff Effects? Why that means all vocal tracks are are affected by a riff's Riff Effects, which stinks! I'm bummed that the music's Riff Effects and the vocal's would be the same sound.

Record your vocals on the songline then it'll be independent of the Riff Effects plus you can put separate effects on each layer in the songline. Also there will be no "Riff Joint" glitches in your vocal track, if you get my drift. Only thing is you must have made your decision about the songline arrangement because if you alter the riff positions, lengthen or shorten the song etc the songline vox won't alter and could be totally out of sync :)

Another thing I just thought of is this:-

You can click on the songline anywhere you like and start recording from there and click stop as soon as you're done (ie, No need to start at the very beginning or run right through to the very end of the songline) The software will the build a complete layer with a silent beginning, your stuff in the middle and a silent end, comprendi ?

Aw man, Wedgebill, I so appreciate U taking your time 4 me, man! I don't understand what U mean by recording vocals on the "Songline"? I have my riffs in the Songlayers area, then the chosen riffs on the Song area, and when I try adding/recording vocals to each riff layer, I end up getting the Riff Effects affecting the sound of the vocal layers. What am I confused about? Sorry, Bro., I'm challenged! Please respond, as if I were 10 Yrs. old, so I can understand your generous instructions? ;-( ::: By the way: what's "Riff Joint"? (sounds like a Sonoma doobie)

When you click songlayers the riff name at the left will say Songlayers, then when you click the Red Record button you will be recording along the songline and not in any of the Riff Blocks, comprendi now ? and did you see my edit above ?

A Riff Joint is what you need to smoke when you run out of Riff Beer, or even if you don't ....haha

Seriously, I just meant the joints between riffs as you play along the songline

PS, When you click play on the Songline (Top Play Button) you can alternate what you see in the interface box by clicking either the word Songlayers or clicking the top Play button again (IE The top play button will show you Riff Layers and the Songlayers shows just that)

Recording my 1st demo CD, it has so much commercial potential, Bro., but I'm a techno-challenged dummy! All creative yet all techno challenged! Step by step, have been doin recording on my own 1.5 Yrs., and have 8 recorded songs. Now am trying vocals w/my Pro. mike that I just bought. Sounded great, but the playback sounded like Alvin & the Chipmunks! Threw me 4 a loop!!!

Ol Wedgie even looks a bit like Obi Wan, but instead of a light saber he wields a Telecaster :P
