My biggest annoyance is when I launch Riffworks and the AMP is enabled and I need to uncheck it since I use Line6 POD FARM. I just hate that. It' s still a good product but I believe this could be a much better product.

My second biggest annoyance is the lack of a good File management system. I would at least like it to have the ability to show me a recently opened file list.

if you are on windows you can either clear the amp in registry or you can try this to clear that http://sites.google.com/site/intelliriffer/rwregfixer
and it won't load automatically again unless you load it manually.

Thanks for the suggestion atalwar! I think some settings should be settable in the program and riffworks doesn't have anything like that. I will try what you said though.

What does the dotnet framework 2.0 for you? Also, do you need to use intelliriffer?

rpinon69,
it's a standalone utility and you don't need to use intelliriffer for this.
You can also edit the windows registry manually without using this util.

in windows registry editor search for value : .app.lb.AMP.plugin

once found double click and clear it's value data.

For the dot net framework question :

Most of todays systems would have dot net framework already installed as most of the newer windows applications are being developed in dot net. If it's not installed i think the installer would prompt you to install Microsoft dotnet framework 2.0.

No complaints here either just always trying to learn something new and maybe useful for future reference.

Thanks again Atalwar

I don't like how volume changes made in the info bar get forgotten sometimes. It can be a real pain to fix. I've noticed it happening more often on the songlayer.

Edit:

I'd also like to be able to resize the interface for riffs that have a lot of tracks. The scroll function quits working sometimes and I have to drag the side bar.

Most of the time playing back a riff requires hitting play/stop/play to hear it.

Switching to songlayer view during playback makes it so you can't go back to the regular riff view. It's a one-way switch.

When saving effects and loading them on another riff the chorus/flanger resets the speed and depth settings and have to be re-adjusted. This is easy to forget, and due to the subtle nature of the effect can be missed.

Thanks,
Ron

Hit the main play button during playback to switch back to normal layer view, one problem solved for ya Ron :)
No-one remembers what you do or say. Everyone remembers how you made them feel. Allegedly !!!!

Hey Styme those sound like legitimate annoyances to me. I have experienced those too.

Bill, that probably does work but it just doesn't seem intuitive enough. I'm hoping maybe Sonoma will look at these for future improvement ideas more than anything. Always room for improvemnet, from my guitar playing, to recording, mixing, and developing software that is as user friendly and trouble free as possible. The annoyances aren't enough to keep from using Riffworks because it still is a great tool. Peace!

i like the drag/drop layer thing and

if there was a way to find out what pre-set is being used is, without having to open and check eq/comp/etc.

what i mean is, if the pre-set has already been saved and is in use, something could tell me which one it is, on which guitar or drum etc.

The vst auto-loading was the only serious annoyance i ever had.

There could be some minor improvements like ability to reduce the height of a layer by double clicking it so one could have more layers in view especially if reordering of layers is not possible.

Also the GUI gets glitchy sometimes i.e the graphics disappear but that i think might be due to not using powerful enough system.

++ ron and fooks have some great suggestions for workflow.

1. sometimes it says "does not recognize an ASIO sound device, then tries to sell me something.

2. it says something along the lines of unexpected error, freezes up, and makes a lound sound. I then asks me to turn off the program, and that I will be notified when there is a solution. It then asks me if I want to save a "dmp file" I click yes, but it doesn't save it
